What classes did you pair with A&P I (Anatomy)?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I'm seeking the advice of those who've done it before me. What courses and how many did you take with A&P I. I don't work and wanted to really get a chunk of credits out of the way, what do you suggest? I know I have to take a pre-calc class in spring as well as a&p (which should be okay, I'm pretty comfortable math and scored the top rated professor!)

Do you think I could add another science? or maybe 2 other humanities classes like speech and health? I know a&p is mostly memorization so I already started memorizing the musculo-skelatal system, so I've got all major bones and muscles memorized already.

What was your a&p I semester like, did you have a great teacher? What grade were you able to get? I want to know!

I took API and algebra together. I also took Micro and A&PII in the same semester. My micro professors were ok but tests were HARD. I found A&P to be easier once I got the hang of it. My teacher was tough but fair. Even though they are both very demanding there are benefits of taking them concurrently. There is some overlap of material. You will have some "aha! I remember that from AP lecture!" When you are in micro and vice versa. You said u are not working I'd say add a humanities if you're really ambitious too! I was working 4 to 5 nights a week and pulled B's in both. If I wasn't working I'm sure I'd have A's. If you are driven, which from reading ur posts I think u are, you will be very successful!

If you can pull B's working 4-5 days a week I feel confident I can do the same in A&P I and Micro plus two humanities courses! Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Thanks to everyone else for your replies! I love to see what you amazing people are capable of!

I took A&P I lecture/lab with sociology. I got A's. I can only take 2 classes at a time because I work 40-50 hours a week.

With A&P l w/lab I took college algebra, eng comp, and nutrition. I got a b in anatomy and a's in everything else. I worked a couple days a week but didn't work the last two weeks before finals. I'm disappointed with the b but I think I'll do better with A&P ll. Even though I'd always put the time in to study I don't think I learned how to study effectively until midway through the course. Nutrition was my easiest class by far.

I took anatomy and physiology, biology with genetics (a requirement to graduate for the nursing program I was going for), and statistics (also a requirement for graduation, but not a prereq). Microbiology was really hard in my university, so I was advised not to take it during A&P. I think I also took the first half of human development online, which was really easy.

Good luck!

In Spring'13 I am registered to take A&P I lecture/lab, American Government, & Musical Experience.

Chemistry II, A&P Lab1, English II, Health Calculations, and World Relgions (Elective)

I have a very ambitious Spring 2013 schedule. I'm taking A&P1 and Micro w/ lab components, Eng Comp 2 online, flex term (8wk) Jan-Mar How to Survive in Nursing online, then Lifespan Psych Mar-May online. Fall 2012 was my first semester in college and I finished with all A's in Bio, Eng Comp 1, and Intro to Psych. I'm a SAHM with a 1st grader and 3yr old. Luckily my school has on-campus daycare so that will help a lot with my little one. I'm nervous about my course load but confident at the same time. I'll make it work ;)

Tmartin! Wow! I am inspired by your load for the spring. That's one hell of a schedule, congrats on a successful fall!

I took A&P 1 with chemistry and developmental psychology.

I took A&P I (w/lab), Nutrition, Chemistry (w/lab) and Human Growth & Development one semester. The next semester I took A&P II (w/lab) and Microbiology (w/lab). I had all my gen ed credits from a previous BA degree.

I have a BBA already, so most of my classes are covered. I just have to take my anatomies, a microbiology, and a pharmacology for nurses class. I'm starting in January and taking A&P I and Pharmacology together. I'd like to have taken the microbiology, but my school only has one prof who teaches it, and they say she's not the best person to really sign up for :X. I'll do A&P II over the summer and start the nursing program in the Fall :3.

I took A&P all alone....because I was so scared that it was going to be horrific....but surprisingly it wasn't as bad as I thought....and there were a couple of quizzes I could've done better on....but ended up getting a very high B!!! GOOD LUCK...it sounds like you know what you're in for and I'm sure you'll do just fine!!!
