people who think that DNR means do not treat ("why do they need tele if they are a DNR"- uh maybe because we can help heart dysrhytmias and they DO get to have that treatment even if they are a DNR) :angryfire

Doctors that get angry when their pt. is exhausted because the pt. hasn't slept. Well uh when you prescribe their qd Lasix at 2100 and it's 80 mg, yes they're going to wear a path out to the bathroom all night since they have to pee all the time. And that equals no sleep. Jeez

The nurses that feel the need to inform me when they are menstrating. Had a tech today "don't mess with me today, I've got PMS".....ummm....thank you very much, I'll walk on eggshells, allow you do be lazy and short-tempered, appreciate the info. :)

I was just thinking that same thing....we all get PMS of some sort or another...what's so special about you? Using it as an excuse drives me crazy!

The PMS excuse wears thin on me too. How tempting it would be to say "So what's your excuse for being such a ***** the rest of the time then".

Or "Take two chill pills and get over it."

I have pretty bad PMS, with migraines included, but i've never felt the need to tell this to my co-workers. Why would this be information that they need?

Pet Peeve....lazy Nurses....the Ones Who Love To B**ch About How Lazy And Incompitant Everyone Else Is...but Yet, These Are The Same Ones Who TRY To Have Others Do Their Work For Them...They LOVE To Leave THEIR WORK Over To The Next One On That Should Have Been Done Then... Nurses that dress like slobs! I can't stand to see nurses come in those stirrup stretch pants or dingy uniforms or no uniform. While I was in the hospital in ICU, very sedated, I had a male nurse come into the room and I thought he was ZZ Topp or an axe murderer! Sheesh! And he was a mean nurse too!

And along the same lines, while my husband was in the hospital the old black haired nurse reminded him of a witch. He was very uncomfortable around her. He said she would "slink" around the room at night. Guess what she came to work as on Halloween? You guessed it! A witch!

Nurses shouldn't scare the hell out of people like that!

When another shift comes up to you and tells you that your patient had a 88/45 BP and I did nothing about it.. and so the patient had a heartache and sent to the unit... Blah blah of course with the Unit Manager sitting right there.. Come to find out.. I didn't have that patient.. It was someone else!!!!!!!

I remember when I was in nursing school -- WHITE uniforms were required:rolleyes: - not just clean, but startched, pressed, crisp....very professional. Not that I want to go back to all white, but our patients were sure about which fols on the floor were nurses 'cause we LOOKED like a nurse!! And our uniform appearance was actually a part of our evaluation! I remember hearing a nurse get reprimanded because her shoes were "a mess" they wre clean, but not polished very recently.

I agree that nurses ( and all staff) should present a clean, professional and distinct appearance!! It says alot about a person -- how they care for themselves -- if you look like a slouch -- it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence!!

Ohh,,,I have another pet peeve. Your charge nurse is insisting on taking a 15, and yet the other staff members have not even had a chance to sit and think straight. So, said charge nurse is ignoring her pages for beeping IV's and wants the rest of us to medicate her patients and take care of her IV's...Had this happen last night while I was in the middle of a code (yes, that is right!!!)...and taking care of one of my patient's emergencies last night (I left the code for 15 minutes to take care of this).
