What is the best NCLEX Review Program?

Students NCLEX

Published

Hi all! I will be graduating in May 2017 this year and was curious as to what is the best NCLEX prep sources to invest in? I have heard a lot about Hurst, Kaplan, UWorld, and the PDA book by LaCharity. So I suppose my question is.. To anyone who passed first try, what did you utilize in order to prepare for NCLEX?

P.S. My university is holding a 3 day workshop with Kaplan after finals and that is suppose to help us as well, but who knows. Lol

Well I didn't pass first try but Uworld and Lacharity helped me with my last attempt and I passed

Hi,

I've been posting around posting some tips. I passed on my first try with 88 questions.

I personally used UWorld and PDA as both were the best in my opinion. Many of my friends used Hurst, but I didn't because it cost a lot. UWorld is also pretty expensive but not as expensive as Hurst, and the consensus seems to show that UWorld Qbank questions are more difficult and more akin to the actual NCLEX.

After writing the NCLEX, I can say that UWorld was the closest thing to the actual NCLEX (and the program looks similar to the actual NCLEX too!). PDA was very helpful because a good 20% of my exam was prioritization or delegation -- and these type of questions are very difficult, so its good practice to expose yourself to these types of questions which are also abundant on UWorld.

Though keep in mind, I used Saunders prior to using UWorld and PDA. I needed to study for core review and I thought Saunders helped a lot.

Since I didn't use Hurst, I can't say anything about it but my friends who used it highly recommend it! So I guess it boils down to how much are you willing to spend? Hurst is ~$450-550 (but it does include a lot of stuff) while I paid $79 (30 day subscription) for UWorld qBank.

I passed mine few weeks ago, 75 questions, in 45 minutes. I would study Kaplan's decision tree and try to practice that tool. However, NCLEX was NOTHING like Kaplan questions to me. I really would like to recommend UWorld. UWorld screen looks very similar to NCLEX so it really helps you to get prepared for it. Also, NCLEX was almost 90% similar to UWorld questions. UWorld gives you ALOT of select all that apply questions and I think I had about 30 select all on NCLEX. I did about 100-200 questions a day and remediated as well.
