ER.
Fast pace, never boring, challenging but not overwhelming, great team, different patients every shift (except for the frequent flyers)

Does it have to be hospital?? I personally prefer LTC (tried Med/Surg and it wasnt for me) In LTC you have the opporitunity to get to know your patients on a personal level and maybe contribute to bettering what time they have left on Earth

I have to say... LTC is the least favourite for me. Mostly because of the bureaucratic bullcr@p but also because I was losing many of my skills.
Oh yeah, this thread is about most favourite... so far it's orthopedics, but I have been known to change my mind.

I personally love ICU. You get to take care of the sickest patients...patients that actually need you...some patients aren't that sick and just treat you like a maid....in the ICU, they actually do need you. There's always something new to learn, never bored. You actually have to think to take care of your patients (critical thinking to put the whole clinical picture together...i.e., noticing the 100 pt drop in platelets before it becomes abnormal). Also love the low patient load...2 pts.

Why would you want to become a nurse! dont write..I am compassionate or other BS.
sit down with someone you trust and will not give you the typical pump up story.
there are high and lows in every profession. With nursing you can travel overseas.
in nurse school, you are assigned for different areas of nursing, different areas. this will get your feet wet, then YOU decide.

ICU. You use all your skills and learn even more skills. Plus you only have 1-2 patients.
