WGU Prelicensure Nursing

Updated:   Published

I finally got accepted to start WGU prelicensure nursing program Dec 1 2016. So excited! I have literally been waiting a year to get my pre reqs and for Texas board of Nursing to approve the program.

I will do my best to track my progress. Best of luck to any others in the DFW cohort for starting 2016/2017

Hi I am interested in the prelicensure nursing progra at WGU. Is it super competitive? I have applied to Dixie State University multiple times and no luck. I have A's in all the nursing/science classes and B's in everything else. Is this good enough? I have not taken the entrance exam yet. What did your grades look like?

Is it difficult to get in? I heard froma student/freind who is in now that you are basically in as long as your grades are decent. I know there is still competition, but it's not as tough as many University. I know you must pass the test with a 60% at least. I applied to Dixie state multiple times and no luck. This is St. George online btw.

Hey everybody

I'm getting ready to enroll into the wgu school for pre licensure nursing program. I just need to finish my pre requirements. I also reside in the Houston area. I'm just curious on how have the program been for anyone that have enrolled? Hope to hear from someone :)

Hello,

I was wondering if you could give us an update on your experience. I was accepted in the SATX cohort to begin November 2018. Would really like to hear some more about peoples experiences.

Is there any updates on current student or graduate student? How were the classes? were the professors easy to understand and helpful?

The originator of this post hasn’t posted in a while but I’m a current student. Maybe I can answer some of your questions?

Everyone get in i don’t think they turn down anyone

yes but after the 1st 6months if you don't pass the pre-licensure courses you cannot move forward..I missed mine by 2 questions on a BioChem test and they don't let you re apply to their program?

I have applied a while ago but, I have not taken the TEAS. My concern is 12 hr shifts. Can I pull it off? How often do u get these? Anyone..? Also, I read a review from a student who said, you really should be an LVN  before taking this on.

I graduated the program, and I can definitely tell you that being a LVN is not a must.  You do have to stay focus on your school work and not fall behind.  This program is very doable, and the rewards after graduation is great.  All of my shifts were 12 hours and you definitely get use to it.  Stay focus on your dream, take the TEAS and start your journey.

I’m currently in the program and I’m not a LVN and doing fine. I have some LVN in my cohort and they still have the same problems I have but they are great at communicating with patients.
