WGU Prelicensure Nursing

Nursing Students Western Governors

Updated:   Published

I finally got accepted to start prelicensure nursing program Dec 1 2016. So excited! I have literally been waiting a year to get my pre reqs and for Texas board of Nursing to approve the program.

I will do my best to track my progress. Best of luck to any others in the DFW cohort for starting 2016/2017

No, there is not a Math class that I am aware of.  I spent approximately 30+ hours because I did my readings assignments and I wanted to stay ahead and finish classes early.

Same I spend around 30 hours it depends also I try to get all the reading done

How did you learn the drug doses? Did you have to convert from ml to liters or any of that kind of thing? Hope your OK answering all this. Thanks

Yes you will learn all that in your pharmacology and Med dosage class. It is not hard at all.

so, How often is clinical a month and what are you doing when you're there? Are you the only one there with a nurse to follow around or are you with your cohorts fellows?

Yes clinicals is around every 6 weeks I think, you will get a calendar for the whole program and you can access it online in your portal.

You are performing nursing duties while you are at clinicals.  As far as other classmates,  It all depends because you are following your preceptor schedule so other students may be there with there preceptor so it is it possible you may be with a classmate. It was only a few times I was the only student.

So, your skills you learn in the lab and then you actually do them in clinical? I now wonder how often is the lab?

The schedule lists everything for the whole 2 years. So yes, you learn the skills in lab and perform them in clinical.

Thanks again. Where are you at in your studies? I love hearing from real people that really tell you the truth as you have done. I should probably go look at that schedule. I was in a RN program and it went very badly for me. Im just doubly cautious now.  I cannot go through that again. Crappy teachers.
