WGU Pre-Licensure Dallas, TX Jan. 2015 Co-Hort

Published

I couldn't find a thread on WGU for Dallas, TX Jan. 2015 Co-Hort so I wanted to start a thread about it. I would like us to come on here and update everyone on your statuses as you progress through the program. Everyone is welcome to comment and participate.

I can start out with that I have already spoken to my mentor and our first conversation was today. We introduced ourselves today, she gave me a pdf handbook of the skills we are being tested over for boot camp (a checklist of skills they are looking for), and we have scheduled a degree plan telephone conversation for the following week after the Christmas Holidays. I have already been assigned homework from her (Vision Statement & About Me Worksheet). Lol! :roflmao: Everything seems to be going in order for me, but that could be that I was one of the top people on the list for processing (according to my mentor). She seems very awesome and down to earth. I'm very excited to be working with her and to meeting all of you on Jan. 10 & 11th. Our Dallas Jan. 2015 Co-Hort has 14 students that were accepted. If you are a part of the WGU Dallas Jan. 2015 Co-Hort, please feel free to chime in at any time. I would like to know how others are doing.

Can't wait to get started as well. I was finishing up my last two classes at Collin College so they just received my transcript yesterday. It has to go to the review committee to be finalized. They can't assign me the orientation until the transcript is reviewed. Everything is falling into place for me too. It is driving me nuts though that I don't have everything yet because I like to stay ahead on my work. Can't wait to meet you all in January. Can you forward me the pdf file so that I can look over it? If not it's ok, I just want to be well prepared. Do you know when we will order scrubs or do we go and buy them on our own? If we go buy them on our own , then I would like to do while I still have some money from my paycheck. My email address is [email protected]

DFWRN student- what do you do now? are you going to work full time? do you have any children? are you married?

I am a respiratory therapist (17 Years), I work full time in an emergency room. I am married of 19 years and have a 12 and 3 year old.

Mistyp88- I'm glad to see that you were the first one to join my thread. Trust me, I too like to have everything in place and like to stay ahead in my courses and life in general. I can't wait to meet you. Scrub information has not been given to me yet nor has the location of the Skills Lab. That information will be sent out to everyone in the 1st week of January per my mentor. Please check both your E-Mail and AN-Inbox for a PM.

Thank you. To my understanding the clinical site will be LakePointe in Rowlett. I work for LakePointe in one of the free standing ER's and I was told that they were the clinical site. I hope that is the case for us. Have a great Christmas and can't wait to meet you and our fellow classmates.

To my understanding, LakePointe in Rowlett will be a clinical site and maybe Doctors Hospital? I'm not too sure about DH though. I heard the OHN talk about WGU students going there for clinicals also.

I know that Doctors is a Tenet facility, which LP is as well. I have worked at the Rowlett campus and there are some great nurses. Everyone is friendly and I know the clinical coordinator. She is great as well.

One hour. Good. Thank you.

I remember them Asking me in the beginning about my clinical preference, i said Frisco.

And as far as the labs go, I understand that they contract and rent out space from other nursing programs that we can use on the weekends like with simulation labs and whatever else.

I hope the skills test is an hour. It didn't sound like it was going to be that short. Clinical sites in Frisco? No one asked me about that.

-Happy Holidays everyone.
