I couldn't find a thread on WGU for Dallas, TX Jan. 2015 Co-Hort so I wanted to start a thread about it. I would like us to come on here and update everyone on your statuses as you progress through the program. Everyone is welcome to comment and participate.
I can start out with that I have already spoken to my mentor and our first conversation was today. We introduced ourselves today, she gave me a pdf handbook of the skills we are being tested over for boot camp (a checklist of skills they are looking for), and we have scheduled a degree plan telephone conversation for the following week after the Christmas Holidays. I have already been assigned homework from her (Vision Statement & About Me Worksheet). Lol! Everything seems to be going in order for me, but that could be that I was one of the top people on the list for processing (according to my mentor). She seems very awesome and down to earth. I'm very excited to be working with her and to meeting all of you on Jan. 10 & 11th. Our Dallas Jan. 2015 Co-Hort has 14 students that were accepted. If you are a part of the WGU Dallas Jan. 2015 Co-Hort, please feel free to chime in at any time. I would like to know how others are doing.
DFWRNStudent,
My last week was crazy at work due to all the days closed! Thanks for the update, I did have my phone call with my Mentor as well but it was a crazy day because I had to do in between shifts and short handed at work because half of my staff left for New Years. However we got it done and I am working on the skill modules as of now and preparing for Nursing Bootcamp! I do have a follow-up this week with my Mentor.Looking forward to meeting all of you. Please post if you have any new info to share I would love to hear it!!!
Nothing new. Class mentor told me that all tests must be taken on the Mosby skills. Referring to the "quick text", "extended text", "demo", "test", etc. I figured so, but i emailed and asked. It is expected that each skill test be done, but if you fail them, they will not affect your passing of the course. They will merely point you in the direction of the skills you need to focus your studies on.
Hello All,
I have finished all of my skills modules also ahead of schedule and look forward to seeing what's going to go on Saturday. I just don't like that El Centro is located downtown and I have to pay a ridiculous amount of money for parking. That's good that if all of us do good, they'll make room.

Welcome Dedrid!
I just had my follow-up phone call with my Mentor at WGU. We went over the degree plan and expectations of the program. I found out that we now have 13 students in this Cohort down 1 from 14. For the clinical portion, Dallas will have 10 spots available. Good luck to everyone and see y'all on the 10th.
