I was just kinda wondering about it. I am not the best at writing papers which makes me a little nervous. The counsler I spoke to said I would get several attempts on written assignments. I'm not worried about actual course work just written papers. Also the whole thing about using a web cam for proctored test seems a little weird.
There's a whole forum of us:
I've been loving my experience at WGU. At the present time I have three more credits to earn before I'll be awarded my BSN degree. For me, a dream deferred will finally become a reality thanks to WGU.
WGU tends to require less written assignments than other comparable online BSN degree programs. The counsler I spoke to said I would get several attempts on written assignments. I'm not worried about actual course work just written papers.
Then don't use the webcam. My webcam, provided by WGU soon after I enrolled, is still sitting in its box untouched and unused. I have taken all my proctored exams at a local community college testing center. Some people like the webcam ProctorU service, whereas others prefer to test at a testing center. Also the whole thing about using a web cam for proctored test seems a little weird.
I will say that I am 5 months away from finishing my MSN in Leadership, and I met today with my direct supervisor, and the Associate Director of Nursing at the large health network for which I am employed (who is my capstone mentor), and I formally presented my capstone project to them. They are both very enthusiastic about what I am going to do. They also asked me what my goals were after I got my MSN. I feel that they're both really invested in my future goals in nursing leadership. I feel well prepared for what is next for me. WGU has been great for me, personally and professionally.
I did mine here and it just worked for me. Papers weren't difficult and the proctored tests were great, did it in my PJs... The annoying part was the weekly mentor check ins... I'm pretty independent so that was a bit of a pain. But, had I needed help, she would have been the best resource.
Now that you've mentioned the mentor check-ins, my regularly scheduled phone appointment with my mentor is today. The annoying part was the weekly mentor check ins...
The mentor check-ins occurred weekly during my first term, but now they're happening once every two weeks due to the fact that this is my second term. As soon as I complete these last three credits, I can say goodbye to these mentor phone appointments! :)
