Westchester Community College FALL 2010 RN PROGRAM

Published

Just wondering if anyone is applying to the Fall 2010 RN program at WCC? Im curious to know what youve heard is the score you should obtain on the TEAS to gain entry into the program? At the Nursing seminar, we were told 85 or above and buy your scrubs but around campus Im hearing from students that they know of people who scored 90 and didnt get in.

Still nothing today. I can't figure it out. I think my file was lost.:crying2:

I want everyone to enjoy their weekend and do not stress!! Not everyone who has been accepted knows yet-again, that's just my opinion but I feel strongly @ that.

I forgot who asked but I got in the 90's on the TEAS and I have a 4.0 GPA (not sure if that matters)

I've got a theory...

To me, it seems that "they" are doing what's best for them. What I mean by that is, while the powers-that-be are scrutinizing every little detail of those who made the grade, others are kept in the dark until the last seat has been filled. Of course, those that are clearly out of the race have been notified already. In essence, they have a short list of runner's up and LPN alternatives to keep at arm's length. How would you feel knowing that you're #10 on a wait-list praying that someone ahead of you has a disqualification such as a prior DUI or fails the drug test? Maybe if Quest would speed things up, you'd know either way by now!

If you haven't been notified, you may still have a shot whether you like the situation or not.

Why else would someone with a TEAS score of 91 [see post #40] be kept in the dark for so long? What do you think about that Nursey forward-backward?? Perhaps the people that you fear p*ssing off explicitly instructed you to keep quite while they continue on with their elimination [selection] process.

A few days of "Blog" silence speaks volumes.

Hi subterfuge1. You're probably right. I heard they're doing drug testing and checking criminal backgrounds. However, this year they must have alot of very smart people applying because previously, a TEAS score of 85 would be a definite acceptance to Day program and 83 for night program...

Are you an applicant to RN program also? Day or night/weekend? TEAS score?

Nothing in the mail today for me either...

Rumor has it someone was accepted with an 85 and Cs in prereqs.

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail for RN night/weekend program!!! :yeah::nurse:

Congratulations!!:yeah: I just got mine too for the evening/weekend program. See you at Orientation!

I got my official letter of acceptance today as well! Yippeeeeeeeeeeee!

Specializes in ICU / PCU / Telemetry / Oncology.

Congratulations to all those accepted!

I had a question: What's the employment outlook like for WCC graduates? I know the recession has affected the job market for new grad nurses, but I am asking because there seems to be a trend for hospitals to hire BSN nurses more. I am wondering how ADN nurses from WCC will fare with that in mind, do Westchester hospitals hire ADNs quite readily?

Thanks in advance for all responses.

My letter did not mention an interview. I wonder why we don't have to go for an interview like previous years? Also, did you all make plans to take 8 hr CPR course? Westchester American Red Cross has 2 sessions left in June and nothing listed for July and august. They're hard to get on the phone, though.

Jake22 - I might not be at the 8-10:30am orientation because I work at that time. I'm asking them if there will be another orientation during late afternoon/evening hours. By the way, is your real name Jake and are you male?

I won't be able to attend Orientation either. Wish they were giving it at night

Caution:

For those seeking deferment from the orientation, be sure to send an email to the department secretary to explain your situation if you haven't already done so. If you're enrolled in the evening & weekend program, it shouldn't be much of an issue... Though, it could be quite sticky if you're in the daytime ADN or LPN program.

A friend of a friend [read: hearsay] said that she was going to make up an excuse so she doesn't have to go even though she's not working that day. She's just lazy! Go figure, people bust their butts to get into the program while others just skate by.
