Hello! I am considering West Coast University for the BSN program. I am having a difficult time finding anyone in the Fort Worth area that has even heard of this place. I want to know how the hospitals feel about this school. I've heard some places wont even hire from Dallas career colleges. I am a military spouse and have very limited time in one location. I want to be an oncology nurse but am very concerned about credits not transferring out of this school. Also, if the accreditation is from the west coast, will I get a job on the east coast? So many questions, so little time! Haha! Any other military members have any experience here?? Any WCU graduates here that can answer some more questions? :)
I wanted to know when do you start wearing your nursing scrubs? I know when you're taking your prerequisites, you don't but I heard when you start nursing core that's when you wear them? Not sure but just curious! Thanks!
Eek! I'm still getting used to the notifications system here! So after you finish Patho, you have nursing orientation where you get your scrubs and ATI supplies. You'd wear your scrubs then for skills lab and clinicals.
Hey one question...do they still allow concurrent enrollment? do you have to start the pre req (@ DCCCD in this case) before WCU's semester starts or can you start it after as long as you finish it before the end of WCU's semester? Just wondered that.
I don't know if you've gotten an answer to this one yet, but they do not allow concurrent enrollment. Once you start the program, they usually don't accept anymore transfer credits.
How much are they charging you ? My sciences have expired. So those won't be considered
I will say this about the cost: if you have a decent GPA, they have a scholarship that can cover a lot of the tuition. Mine was 13,500 and with grants and loans, I paid nothing out of pocket for this school year. Of course, that means you have to keep up a competitive GPA.

13,500? Wow that's amazing. I've exhausted my grants with my prior bachelor degree from TWU.

So I found out that they do concurrent enrollment BUT the classes have to start before the first semester starts and end before the first semester ends. So yeah, kinda stupid to me but it is what it is.
Hi everyone, I'm planning on starting in June or Aug, I have most all the pre-reqs done except micro and anthropolgy. I wanted to take them proir to starting to save any money possible but when they made my propsed schedule of how my first semester would go they had said I could combine these into the 4 courses they require making the program 5.5 total semesters. I had read somewhere previously that if all pre-reqs were completed the program could be done in 5 semester is that true? Has anyone out there started the program with all pre-reqs complete? If so what was your first semester schedule like? Thank you!
Hello dremeesh! So if you can complete all your pre-reqs first then you save money and your time at West Coast is shortened. However, your program will short or long depending on if you are taking the days program or the new night and weekend program. Also will depend on if you are an LVN too. I am in the night and weekend program so my time is extended a little bit. I don't know too many people who started the program with all pre-reqs completed. Usually, its like one or two classes on average that students still had to complete.Hi everyone, I'm planning on starting in June or Aug, I have most all the pre-reqs done except micro and anthropolgy. I know I'm late, but I agree. You have to take patho and capstone at WCU. I do know people who only had to take those two classes and Cultural Pluralism (which is a humanities course) before they could start nursing.
