That's awesome, keep up the good work. I'm an aerobics instructor and teach at the university I attend at for recreational hours. I know how it's like to diet and workout. I went from 150, to 115. I'm 5'2 so that was a lot of weight on me. Recently I had gone up to 125 so I got on the south beach diet which works great. Always excersice though;)
I did well! Weighed in last night & was down 2 lbs. That makes my grand total so far....drumroll, please....10.25 lbs. lost! WooT! I got my 10 lb ribbon last night & was so stoked. :) My stats now are 215/204.75/140.
I missed exercising this morning...I had to get dinner in the crockpot (I'm making some WW chili from one of their cookbooks I got for Christmas)...but I've been trying to do one of the Walk Away The Pounds workouts at least 4-5 times a week. WATP is so easy & really gives you a good workout. I'll do the 1 mile walk when I don't have much time in the morning, so I'll at least get something in. I like to try & do the 2 or 3 mile one when I have more time.
Amy, can u post the chilli recipe and points?? TIA!:)
Me, I have been all worked up because Im in the process of moving and looking for a job so its been hard to stay OP! I havent been going to meetings for a while because of $$$ and I thought I could do it on my own but Im beginning to thing maybe I NEED to pay $$$ to weigh in every week because then I know I NEED to be sticking to the program or else Im wasting $9 a week to go to meetings and an hour of my time to sit there and Im wasting the extra $$$ it costs to buy WW friendly foods and snacks to only half follow the plan!:) Im thinking of joining back up since they are having free registration right now. But in a way I wish I could just count points on my own and spend the money for my gym membership or for rewards(clothing, etc).
what do u guys think about following the plan on your own?
Im going on a cruise at the end of March and I would LOVE to at least be in the mid 150s by then...Around that time Id like to also start teaching some aerobics classes again so Ive gotta be in good shape for that too(not just for vanity but for endurance!)
Im getting back on my workout routine this week too...
current stats
179/168/147
I tried doing the plan on my own & didn't succeed much at all. I really like going to the meetings...yeah, it's $$ and time, but it really helps me keep on track & motivated. We had one person reach goal last night & one person who's lost 85 pounds as of last night. If that's motivating, I don't know what is! :)
The chili...I'll have to look up the points, but here's the recipe:
1 lb. lean ground beef (10% fat or less)
2 cloves garlic, chopped fine
2 Tbsp chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1 28 oz can crushed tomatos
1 14.5 oz can red kidney beans, drained & rinsed
1 chopped sweet onion
1/4 cup of canned diced chiles
2 Tbsp tomato paste
Brown the ground beef and garlic in a skillet. Drain off the extra fat and then stir in the chili powder and cumin, to coat the meat. Remove from heat.
Combine the tomatoes, beans, chilies and tomato paste in a crockpot. Add the meat mixture & stir in. Cook on high for 4-5 hours. (I cook it on low for 8-9 hours, while I'm at work).
You might want to add more chili powder if you like it spicier.
**edited to add onions to recipe (oops!)
Also...makes 8 servings at 2 points per serving
I thought it was pretty good. DH loved it & had two bowls. I had to add a lot more chili powder and some salt to mine though.
Hi, I just came from my WW meeting. I go on my lunch break on Thurs. After struggling through the FT for a week, I lost 1.2lbs. I thought and felt like I lost at least 3lbs. The WW staff told me to stick with it for the whole two weeks but I was hungry for the whole week and don't know if it is actually worth it.
When I was on program at 23, losing three pounds in one week was the norm. I guess the metabolism does slow down with age. That was about twelve years ago....
167.8/160.4/142
I did the FT & didn't lose as much as I thought. My leader thinks it's cos the points are so low (20). She thought maybe your body would go into starvation mode & you may not lose as much.
I figure it's a good kick-start if you get to a plateau though.
Congrats on the good loss, FarmRN2Be !
I opted out of using the FT. It was just too strict and I thought it would turn me off of the plan before I really got started. The very reason I love WW is because this is the plan that offers the highest success rate. It will be two weeks on Saturday and I'm really looking forward to being weighed. Last time I lost 4.5 lbs. What's really cool are the flex points. I've been using them and I'm still losing weight.
Yesterday I had "the interview" with my clinical instructor. We are each assigned a faculty mentor and by the luck of the draw, I got my clinical instructor. In a very diplomatic way, she explained that I represent nursing as a profession so I must be careful of the image I put forth making a specific reference to weight. While I may have issues with the concept because nurses are people too, it made me feel good to know I'm doing something about it.
but I've been trying to do one of the Walk Away The Pounds workouts at least 4-5 times a week
I really like doing these workouts, too. The only problem is my seven-year-old does them with me and makes me laugh, mimicking Leslie. She thinks she talks too much :chuckle .
Great job with the weight loss everyone.....keep it rolling!!!

That kills me! That would have bothered the heck out of me, and it makes me quite angry just reading it. I'm glad you coped with it well. Did she give the same talk to students who are very UNDERwieght, as that ALSO has negative health consequences? Sheesh.
