Hello everyone,
I have a question about how your hospitals/facilities handle the weekend incentive or what some may call Baylor contract pay. I work full time days- 12 hour shifts, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. I am paid $10/hr premium for this contract. When I agreed to this position I was never told that I would only be paid the contract pay for Saturday and Sunday, but I received my first check and when I called the admin. secretary she told me that Monday I would not be paid the $10/hr because that's not a weekend day. But now I have spoken to other nurses on the same plan and they are being paid for all 3 days. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this before I go and try to discuss this because they are not always the friendliest....

Make sure that the other nurse you talked to works the same days as you.
At my facility it's different (slightly) for each floor and each contract. Most work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to get their differential. Others that work one day a week, not considered a weekend day per their contract, do not get the differential on that shift.
So it really depends on your contract...

It should be spelled out in your contract or job description, if it doesn't say that you get the premium for Mondays as well then you've really got no argument to make. No facility I've worked at has paid weekend premium pay for weekday work, and I'm not sure why they would since Monday is not part of the weekend.

I work weekend option and get paid the $10/hr bonus for any shift in the "zone" which starts 3pm Friday-7am Monday. I work Sat-Monday days. I get paid the bonus for my Sat and Sunday shift, but not my Monday shift. It should have been spelled out in your contract.

We don't have weekend contract anymore, but there is a weekend differential of $10/hr for Saturdays and Sundays.
