Hi everyone. Just wanted to start a post for the 2015 Associates degree of Nursing Fall program at Weatherford College and see who else will be applying!
I have 31 points before my TEAS. I probably wont be taking it for a couple more months. I've finished all of my pre and co requisites and have my 15 hours of BSN credits so I'm super excited to finally be able to apply :)
I wonder what the point cut off will be this semester? I'm hoping to get at least 6 points off my TEAS but 8 would be great! Comment if you're applying this upcoming semester! Cant wait!
Yes that girl was very rude but like many others have said there is some truth to it! Yes you can get hired on even at some big hospitals if you are going into the BSN program! I work at a THR facility right now and there have been quite a few people that have been PCT's that had just finished their ADN and they were getting nursing positions! And from what I have heard from a lot of the nurses around my hospital is that the state of Texas is going to start requiring nurses to have a BSN in 2017! There are a lot of them that I currently work with that just have their ADN and are having to go back and get the extra year! That info could be a little off or I may have misheard it so don't quote me on that! And I am happy that we could get our letters next week and hopefully no later than two weeks!

There definitely is some truth to it.....a lot of hospitals won't even look at your application if you don't have your BSN....BUT SOME WILL. I've heard that Baylor only hires BSN..so they don't offer clinical rotations to ADN programs.....
Getting a tech job or a nurse extern position is the best way to get your foot in the door at a hospital to get a nursing position after graduation....I am finishing up my first semester (2 MORE WEEKS....COUNTING DOWN lol) and plan on looking for a position at the end of the summer (I want one more summer to stay home with my kids and relax....plus this semester has been grueling and I could use a breather lol)
so yes it was unsolicited advice....and put in a rude manner It sounds like...but there IS some truth and something to think about for sure.....something to be aware of when making future plans
Yeah I was talking with a lady that I work with today and she was telling me that Baylor only accepted BSN! I currently work for THR but am looking into the Pediatric side and would love to work at Cook's or Children's Medical when I am done with school! She was saying that she thought that Cook's took nurses with their ADN and is going to look into for me! I do agree with everybody that taking a tech position is your best way to get a foot in the door!
Oh and my interview was... Meh... Awkward. I'm out of practice, my heart wasn't in it, and it was very intimidating. There were about 8 or 9 people encircled around the room just staring at you with one person asking questions. I can't believe I answered on of the questions, "You just have to suck in up." Ugh!! I was more excited to introduce myself to KL. Thankfully that went over 10x better than the interview.
I agree! It was intimidating. I was nervous, but they probably expect that. I think I know which question you are talking about lol Man, that was crazy. The questions were easy, but I think it was the seating that made it nerve racking. I wonder how long it will take to get a letter...
