Hi everyone. Just wanted to start a post for the 2015 Associates degree of Nursing Fall program at Weatherford College and see who else will be applying!
I have 31 points before my TEAS. I probably wont be taking it for a couple more months. I've finished all of my pre and co requisites and have my 15 hours of BSN credits so I'm super excited to finally be able to apply :)
I wonder what the point cut off will be this semester? I'm hoping to get at least 6 points off my TEAS but 8 would be great! Comment if you're applying this upcoming semester! Cant wait!
So I was reading threads from the past couple semester of applicants and I keep seeing this trend of students talking about a new point system. It almost seems like it is constantly changing. I tried to calculate my points from the information that is posted on the website, but when I confirmed my points with KL I had 4 less points. Is it the old point system posted online? Or I'm wondering if I just miscalculated with some repeated classes. Hmmm.
FYI. I'll be on campus tomorrow and plan on stopping by KL's office to introduce myself and see what kind of new info I can squeeze out of her. If anybody has a question let me know!
haha yes , his class is a little unusual for sure, all I can say is if you do all you labs and not miss any (he helps with them anyway) You cannot fail no matter what. I surly bombed my final and passed .. weird i know. I do not know anyone who made less than a C unless they did not do anything.

I noticed that too, that the point system is constantly changing. Maybe they do that on purpose? And I think the information that's on the website is correct because I added up my points before I turned in my application and she confirmed it for me when I turned it in.
And maybe ask her when they sent the names to the BON and if their are any other steps once they receive the okay from the BON. I feel like we should have our letters really soon... Im sure that they sent out the names sometime last week, and it only takes ten days or less to hear back from them, so I don't see why it should be too much longer... Not till mid-May anyways. I would say ask about the cut off too but I don't think she would share that information lol.
Tmmycarson- well that does ease a bit of my panic! Do you remember if his final have some of the questions from his "tests" during the course? Just curious. That's a bummer the WCWC only starts in Fall...so has anyone taken a pharmacology class? I was looking at Hill pre-reqs and they want pharmacology done beforehand. Does anyone know if Weatherford offers this class w/out being accepted to any program first? Has anyone taken the HESI and the TEAS? If so, which would you consider to be the most difficult?

His final is similar but not he same from semester to semester . He does not pull questions from homework of other test. I think it is crazy that the two tests you take during the semester do not count! He says they are only practice lol . ....I too am a new college student after 20+ years it def was a change but doable. As far as HESI and TEAS HESI i think is easier, I took it once and did okay but can do better as I only had 2 hrs sleep before taking it the last time lol The TEAS is a whole other animal, I found it very difficult, others may disagree but for me that is how it was. For me the math was the toughest part. I have taken Pharm and Patho at UTA online and both were tough but got through it with B's.
Well, thanks for the info! I find it crazy he doesn't do one math/formula during lecture! Well, you've definitly made me feel that there is hope and I thank you for it! I'm kinda banking on knowing vocabulary., elements, ect. That's good to know about TEAS v. HESI. I suppose as long as you study the material for the TEAS you may be covered for the HESI as well. Yea, two hours sleep???? I would have been a zombie!
So I bought this book and it helped me tremendously for the math portion. It's called Davis's Basic Math Review for Nurses by Vicki Raines Seriously, it saved me! Math is not my forte! Just for future reference if you ever need a refresher. Which reminds me, I'll be taking Stats next semester if I don't get in the program. Ugh! The fact that you have patho and pharm. is so great, that will give you an edge up with knowledge once you get in a program! Good for you! If you don't get in a program you can always start on taking a foreign language, I heard they pay more for nurses who can speak another language!
Off to do some wonderful chemistry...not.
As horrible at math as I am, Stats was not too bad. I took it online as well through UTA but I am sure WC is the same . Its all kinof like what chance will you roll dice and get a 3 10 times out of 50. stuff like that. I sure hope to GOD I get in this time. I have applied before but seems I am always 1 point off the mark for just about everything..lol oh well, God knows better than me..
Honestly, if I have to, I will do LVN transition to ADN, get a job and finish up getting the BSN online. I 'll just utilize all the options. Of course, I'd want the ADN program straight up but, I'll take whatever gets me to the goal. I mean, LVN-ADN almost takes just as long as the ADN program so...where there's a will, there is a way! Keepin' the eye on the prize! In the end, that is what matters.
So yall help me out here...
I was just in class and I mentioned to a friend how I plan on getting a job as a nurse when I'm finished with the program here at weatherford. A girl behind us laughs loudly and says "good luck getting hired with just your associates degree!" It was really rude and embarrassing for me. I didn't even know what to say.... she then went on to say that hospitals will only hire nurses with BSNs. It was just very rude and unasked for... I wonder how true her statement is?

Yes I am getting very anxious and nervous about the letters going out myself! I know where my points are but am also really uneasy because of the new points system and not knowing how it's going to go! Yes the WCWC does only have a class that starts in the fall!
