Hi everyone. Just wanted to start a post for the 2015 Associates degree of Nursing Fall program at Weatherford College and see who else will be applying!
I have 31 points before my TEAS. I probably wont be taking it for a couple more months. I've finished all of my pre and co requisites and have my 15 hours of BSN credits so I'm super excited to finally be able to apply :)
I wonder what the point cut off will be this semester? I'm hoping to get at least 6 points off my TEAS but 8 would be great! Comment if you're applying this upcoming semester! Cant wait!
Besides the one week weather delay and a week for spring break I wonder why the date keeps getting pushed back. Does anyone know if there was a higher than normal number of applicants or something.
And kenzie420 count those chickens, because if you didn't get in there is no hope for the rest of us :) I did find the extra alternative comment interesting though. When did you submit your application?

I submitted my application on Mar 4th. My TEAS test had to be rescheduled because it landed on the snow day and I took it off campus so it took 2 days to receive the results. Then there was another snow day on the 5th and Karen was on vacation on the 6th. I finally received a confirmation on the 16th that my application was received. Mine had to have been one of the last ones submitted.

Yuck, I imagine that was not any fun for you! Congrats on your scores though! Hopefully we will all get in with you! :)
really worried now that the cut off will be higher. It is all confusing with the unknown as the points loss in the old system to new one. I am on the "bubble" in points AGAIN with 30... ugh!
Don't stress too much. There's nothing we can do now but wait, and we are almost at the halfway point of waiting. If it makes you feel better, I'm pretty sure that the cut off for the lvn-rn was 28, significantly lower than any year before.
Is anyone else registering for classes for the fall as a precaution, in case they don't get accepted? I think Ill go ahead and register for Tex government, nutrition, and maybe chemistry... I still haven't taken algebra though, and I know I really need to get that out of the way! I wanted to take a summer class, but I also want to give myself a break before nursing school (if I get accepted!). I've been starting to feel a little burned out! This semester and last have been tough, plus throw the TEAS on top of all that as well!
I've pretty much taken all the classes I can take, but I would suggest registering for the summer/fall as a precaution. We'll find out before the classes start and you can always drop the class and take your break when you do get your acceptance letter. In a worst case scenario, you also have to think about the point system and what will increase your chances to give priority to that. The TEAS is the best way to increase your points in the shortest amount of time. It looks like the other classes will just count as bonus points, which will not make a different in your score unless you are near 15 credit hours on your BSN-track courses.
When does WC registration open for summer and fall? I typically take classes at TCC but since most of them are online maybe I will go ahead and look there as well. TCC's fall registration does not begin until mid June so I will know what I need to do by then regarding registration, but I am still planning on taking classes over the summer. Although I too am feeling a little burnt out and will probably only take two classes over the summer.

Early registration started today. Early registration is reserved for students who have or will have completed 40 semester hours by the end of this semester. Im not sure when the regular registration beings. But chances are that you qualify for early registration.

I already have 15 hours towards my BSN. I have 20 hours I think. Ill probably take Texas Government online this summer, and hopefully one more if I can afford it. That will be 1 (or 2, not sure) more points. I scored well enough on my TEAS, and will most likely receive an A in the American Lit class Im taking now, that will replace the B I received in Art Appreciation, giving me another point. So if I do not get accepted for the Fall (I feel fairly confident, although that confidence is slowly ebbing away as the 8 weeks comes closer to an end...), I can anticipate at least another 2 points, putting me at 36. So we will see! If I get accepted, there is a strong possibility that I wont take any summer classes at all. Ive used up all my financial aid and any extra classes are out of my already very empty pockets!

Have you talk to financial aid yet? Sometime schools have extra funds/scholarships set aside for students. I had issues with my financial aid when I went to North Lake (DCCCD) and the director just covered my tuition and asked if I needed money for books. It's worth a shot to keep as much money in your pocket if the issue ever arises. I'm not exactly sure how WC works yet.

@tmmycarson: KL said that orientation would be the last week of July or First week of August.
@abbieallen: I didn't ask about the cut off. I just asked her what my point calculation was and if it was competitive. She told me that it was very competitive, not to worry, and asked if WC was my first choice to know whether or not if she needed to create another alternative spot. All of that gave me a pretty good indication that I will be there in the fall, but I am trying not to get too excited after my experience with UTA.
