We got into the CLC Nursing program...now what

Published

OK, we got in, but now what? I am a detail orientated person and I want info! :lol2: When can I start picking up things I need? What are those items?

I have really lost it! I went from thinking about getting in to wondering what to do/what to read/what to buy before class starts.

And how big of a backpack do we REALLY need? :uhoh3:

Anybody out there from CLC have any advice? Help me before my family moves out of the house permanently (wait...maybe that would be a good thing:devil:)!

I too have been looking over the AA Module. I'm not totally scared of it...just a little!! I know CLCstudent said we had to get 100% and could try a second time, but on page 16 of the Module it says "mastery (85% correct) must be achieved on that learning check before you begin study of Module C2". Soooo...is it 100% or 85%?? Or am I mixing things up?? Piece of cake on getting the 85%. And, if I remember correctly - we can use a calculator! :yelclap:

Hello Everyone!!

It's been awhile since I have been here but was hoping those of you who have already purchased your 171 modules could give me an idea of what they are about. I won't be able to get mine until after orientation and I really want to know what to expect the first few weeks....Thanks

Hey Kelly. To be honest I haven't even opened the bag since bringing it home from the bookstore. Once I do I'll let you know what it's about.

That handbook is enough to try to get through for now!

If I don't "talk" to all of you before, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, and that Santa brings you all you are wishing for!

went over my dosage calculation module aa and completed it last night. dimensional analysis is not as scary as it looks - just another way to do proportions and conversions with less chance of error.

here's wishing all of you a very merry christmas! looking forward to seeing you in the new year at orientation!

they changed it to %100 and didn't correct the modules. you'll find lots of typos and mistakes that they've never fixed. they want %100 because med dosage calc. is one of the top nursing mistakes.

:holly3:merry christmas and happy holidays to all of you. :holly3:

:santa1:merry christmas everyone!!! :santa2:

my il's got me my rolling backpack!!! i'm very excited!!! it seems like a nice one!!! can't remember what brand, but it's a name brand one and looks like a good size and rolls very nicely!!!

beautiful weather we are having, wouldn't you say??? i have not really had a chance to sit down and look at much with the holidays, but i will after...i'm off til the 2nd, so that should help!

Yea!!!Its over...I think I love when christmas is over more than christmas itself. Just so much work for one day!!

But, I did finally get my bag, my pda, and money!!!! It was all perfect, I love my bag and I have just been playing with my pda. I have also been to Office Max and I have my modules all neatly in their appropriate binders.

I know that some of you have been in the nesting phase, and I just wasn't there yet, well, now I feel the nesting settling in. First, I just need to dig out of the holiday mess first to get the house back to a normal state.

I can't wait to see you all on the 7th. Hey, do any of you know if we get a lunch break, do we need to bring lunch? Lunch date anyone, in the cafeteria...will it be open?

Heather

Oh, yes...it's over!!! I need to get my Christmas stuff taken down as well and get it all out of the way!!! When I go back to work next week, I'll bring my modules and 3-hole punch it (is that what you did? the margins are right?) and put it in a binder.

I just called tri-county today to see if they had the scrubs for CLC students and she said they do, so I am thinking I may drag my daughter out there today to get two of them. I think that was the last thing on my list of to-do's. I have everything else done I'm sure! I'd like to do that today because I heard it's supposed to snow tomorrow??? And wonderful...I did not get my paycheck today - it must be delayed because of the holiday...wonderful!

One thing I would like to really start doing is working out - I so need to get in shape...it's hard enough to find time as it is now (with a job/daughter/etc...), I am sure I will have a rough time finding time after school, but I am hoping that being up and about at school will help me out!!! After having my daughter, my weight has stayed the same, so while I haven't gained anything, I have not lost anything either!!! So, I'm hoping to change that!!!

I am up for lunch (if we get one) on the 7th! Also, don't forget to bring your money for the drug test - $30, right?

Yes, I three hole punched them...works out well. I got four heavy duty binders and just put all A modules in one B modules in one, C modules in one and so on, and separated them with a pocket divider, so I would have pockets for any handouts for that module.

I really need to find time to work out also, I have had three children and gained lots of weight with them and never really lost it. I am hoping now that I won't be home alot, (to snack) that it will help me out also. We'll see.

Thanks, I almost forgot about the $ for the drug test.

See you on the 7th.

Heather

Ok, those of you with PDA's, I assume if you go in through the main allnurses page, you saw this, but if not, I just wanted to share this board!!! I will have to go through it when my daughter is napping, but just wanted to get it out to the rest of you!!!

Anyone purchase any software? I am hoping to get some money to do that still...I don't have any extra right now (sure you can understand!)

Okay...I am so glad Christmas is over!!! I hope everyone got lots of goodies! I didn't get much for school, but I did get new visors and an exhaust system for my VW Thing!!!! Yipee! If only spring was here....I could drive my 3rd child!!! Sounds weird, but mu hubby said no to a 3rd child, so I got a Thing and went back to school - that'll show him!!!:lol2:

The books are up at the online bookstore. I think they lowered the bundle price again? Wasn't it $800.00 ish? It's now $600 something.

I started 3-hole punching the modules - I just have to place them in binders.

Also...just finished an awesome book - "The Thirteenth Tale"! It's the kind of book you read and after you finish it you are sad. You also keep thinking about details. It's the first book I've had time to read in a year and probably the last one for a year!!!
