So school starts in just over a week. I'm so excited/ anxious. Just wondering what my fellow wcccd future nurses are doing to prepare. I still need to get some white tees. White socks so I have more that I can easily match, and some black pens stuff like that. going to order my clinical uniform off the internet I think. My very first class on tuesday is skills lab, so I also want opinions on what to bring to the first class. Thanks Much. Good luck to everyone
Quick question for those in pods 11 and 12: are you wearing your sweats "uniform?" I know 9 and 10 have skills lab Tuesday, but I'm not sure if we (11 and 12) do. Then again, I'm the paranoid type: I'm going to end up wearing the dang thing just in case.(* I seem to recall that we don't need to wear the sweats/etc for Theory, but since my notes are upstairs and I am not, I may be wrong here.)
You are correct -- we do not need to wear our lab uniforms to 110 (so says my notes). I kept being paranoid about it too, but I checked my notes, and I tried to write down (word for word) like everything they were saying, and it does say to only wear the uniforms to the labs (111 & 118). I won't be wearing them, but gosh if I'm wrong I just may have a heart attack. LOL!
I decided I am going to have a suitcase in my trunk of my car... and in it I am going to keep my nursing stuff... Including a spare lab uniform and other materials... and spare street clothes in case I ever decided to do normal people things after class... Lol sure those wont get used much :)
I have lab and lecture on tuesday so sweats it will be for me... not so bad in this weather though at least we aren't in class when its 90 degrees out lol
Havent been on here in awhile just wondering how everyone is holding up? I dont know if its just me but I'm really enjoying the program and I learn something new everyday. Its not a walk in the park but its not as bad as I expected from LISTENING to everyone else. I was blessed with GREAT instructors the first 7.5 and my clinical instructor is amazing.. some days I get overwhelmed but just try to stay positive and take it 7.5 WEEKS AT A TIME! We took our 1st quiz in med surg 1 today it wasnt to bad I passed.. SO HOW R U GUYS??

Glad you are having a good first semester Tiffie:). I am in the home stretch - will finish in May. It may not seem like it now, but it really does go by quick - you'll be done before you know it.
MsAshley no Im not sure what the cut off was but I had a 3.8 in pre reqs and 3.5 overall with co reqs which were all done at WCCCD they have a point system now which Im sure you've probaly heard about GOOD LUCK!
Do-over -CONGRATS! on this being your last semester about 5 weeks left I know u are to excited :) I read some of your previous post did you ever find an Student Extern Job? if so how did you go about doing that because I'm very interested.. where do I find the postings if there are any...
Yes I have heard all about that point system and in some ways I am not worried about it but in some I am. I know that my grades are pretty good but may be considered average but I would have an advantage because all pre req's were done at WC3 and I also have previous medical experience. I don't know how much of a part that will play but I am hopeful that things will work themselves out!
Hi Ms. Ashley,
I'm responding to your post about the point system. Your grades is what will give you the most points. The most points you can get for completing all your courses at WCCCD is about 10. Experience in the medical field accounts for about 5 points. You may want to sit down with an advisor in the nursing department to see where you stand.
