WCCCD Spring 2010 starting soon

Published

So school starts in just over a week. I'm so excited/ anxious. Just wondering what my fellow wcccd future nurses are doing to prepare. I still need to get some white tees. White socks so I have more that I can easily match, and some black pens stuff like that. going to order my clinical uniform off the internet I think. My very first class on tuesday is skills lab, so I also want opinions on what to bring to the first class. Thanks Much. Good luck to everyone

An open mind is always a good thing to take to class

I'm so glad someone else started this thread! I wanted to a dozen times, but wasn't sure where to put it! :lol2:

I'm all set re: the non-clinicals uniform: got my white tees, sweats, white shoes, etc. I still need to pick up the clinical uniform, and given that I'm kind of a procrastinator about non-academic things, I'll probably get it from the uniform shop in week or so, or whenever I pick up my name tag thingie.

How's everyone doing on the reading? I'm a bit behind my self-imposed schedule, I must say. :\

Take everything they told you about in orientation. You will start on actual class content the first day.

for nursing 110 -make sure you have read the first 7 chapter by the first day of class or you will really be behind

also make sure to be in uniform on Day 1 or they WILL send you home!!!

Thanks for the input everyone. And so far for reading I have read one chapter for 110 and read the first few in the skills book. Its just easier to read I guess. Hopinh this week I knock out the rest on the list for week one. I also need to find out from the nursing office if I should go off of the pod sheet they gave us or webgate for my Nur 110 lecture time. Because they don't match. Should probably do that soon.

Hey guys! I am sooo excited too! :D

I have my lab clothes, but I haven't purchased my clinical uniforms yet. I will be ordering them online so I can get 'talls' so I better hurry.

Tuesday I have 110, so at least I don't have to wear my lab uniform the first day. I hate sweats! LOL.

Reading? Uh... yeah. I have been reading a lot of nursing related stuff in all of the supplementary books I bought (Saunders NCLEX, Mosbys Flash Cards, Patho and NCLEX Made Easy, etc.), but haven't actually started our books yet. I intend to start tackling three chapters minimum a day (starting today). We'll see how that goes. :p

I just keep looking at all the books and think... uhh... which goes with which class?? LOL!

Almost officially nursing students!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just some advice from another "tall" - the first white pants I ordered from Allheart (cherokee, elastic waist) were GI-NORMOUS (even though I went by the size chart), so I returned those for a smaller pair. They are really high-waisted, and although the waist band fit, the rest of the pants (hips, thigh) were big enough for two of me. Felt like I was wearing clown pants... The material is nice though. If you wear a medium, you can have mine! Really, I'll never wear them again.

The tops from Allheart fit great (after I returned the first one for the next smaller size...) no trouble with the returns - customer service was great with them.

Life uniform (I went to the one in Southgate) carries tall scrub pants in white - I found some I love last year. And, I got to try them on first... I don't know if they carry the tops...

Yea I'm all ready and excited but kind of nervous like the day is actually almost here! I've been waiting for this day my WHOLE life seriously and I get overwhelemed just thinking about all the "what if's"! I plan to take it 7 weeks at a time and pray I pass everything.. I started reading I finished 4 chapters so far and plan to have the rest read my monday and go over them again and write some quick notes. Just a warning the first 3 chapters were BORING! Whew welcome to Nursing school I better get use to it LOL

Go by the pod sheet, not webgate. That's what they told me at the nursing office, anyway. For example, those of us in pods 9-12 all have 110 together, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3-5pm at Western. Pods 1-4 have 110 T/R 3-5pm, and 5-8 have 110 T/R 9am-11am. :D

its going to be a blast! have fun!!!
