Future RN's!
I created this forum, for us pre-Nursing students, finishing up our prereqs and preparing for the HESI and admittance into the Nursing program for 2015! Let's keep each other motivated and driven. We can do it! Hope to hear from my fellow school mates :-)
No clinicals don't start until the second 7.5 weeks, you have to pass lab and all the check offs in order to do clinicals. You'll have Foundations and Assessment the first 7.5 then Med Surg and Pharm the second 7.5 along with clinicals. It's very very fast paced and intense so be ready to for nursing school to be your life. Good luck everyone
Hi Smithc! The books I used were the Elsevier HESI Study Guides (both 2nd and 3rd editions), my old A&P I/II textbook, and an old ACT book. I also used the outlines my A&P professor passed out in class. My main study tools though were Youtube and anatomy apps on my phone. I would say the name of the app but I use Windows Phone which not many use but I'm sure apple and android have anatomy apps on their phones.
I didn't study math extensively as I am real comfortable with it but I still brushed up on it using YouTube and printable worksheets. But, I found the math to closely resemble the Elsevier Study guides. There is no other book needed for math. Just practice until you are comfortable with the type of problems given in the study guide and do not use a calculator when you are practicing.
The A&P section in the Elsevier study guides were overly simplified reviews of each system and I would not rely on just that source for studying A&P. I just used my textbook, class outlines, and YouTube. Maybe it is just me but I barely got anything from the Elsevier books that were helpful to me for the A&P section.
The reading section in the Elsevier books I felt were very helpful in terms of the types of problems you would encounter and tips for how to pick the right answer. My only problem with the book was the fact that they only had 1 practice question for each type of problem given on the test. If I'm not mistaken, I believe there were 6. So for practice, I used an old ACT book. This was very helpful however, there will be more types of questions you will encounter in the ACT book that will not be on the HESI.
Hope this helps and good luck to you on your exam!

I'm with you on that mheinz 13. I hope it's sooner than that as well. I have been waiting since September and I'm going out of my mind, LOL! Do you plan on doing any of the required tasks for accepted students before you know their decision or will you wait until you know for sure? I was thinking of at least taking the CPR course while I wait.
