Waubonsee Community College-- Starting in Fall

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hey everyone!! I just found out last week that I got accepted into Waubonsee Community College's nursing program!! I will be starting in October. Has anyone gone there? Any advice? What did your schedule look like? I am making myself crazy thinking about it. I have 3 kids that I will have to have in daycare. I wish I could know what my schedule will be now, but I won't know about the clinicals until after class starts. Any input is welcome!!!

It seems like a very informative blog to be a part of! :)

Where do you hope to work when you are done?

Right now. I have been waiting and waiting to just get my foot into the nursing school door. I was first going to go to chamberlain and then life happened and then I decided Waubonsee. I just right now want the oppurtunity to get into the school to see what it is all about.

But to answer... Rush is right by my house. So it would be very convenient but I just want the hospital experience so I can move onto something suitable that will give me time to be a person. I see and hear nurses that all they do is work.

But I would like to work at Edward .. for some reason it always calls my attention. But Central Dupage is beautiful. So in a nut shell anywhere!:)

How about yourself?

My top three choices are Rush-Copley, Edward and CDH.....probably in that order due to location as well! :)

I am planning to volunteer for a few months, if I don't get the March start date.

If I had more time I would love to do that. Have you ever worked in the health industry?

Several years ago I actually started my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and actually did a full semested in Nursing, but then switched my major to Food Science, and that is what my current degree is in. I have not worked in the health care industry, but have a lot of lab experience and sales experience, so that should help.

What about you - are you currently working p/t or f/t?

im not working right now. i am waiting to find out about nursing school. If it doesnt work out then continue to take classes to transfer or maybe get my CNA and start somewhere to get my foot in the door.

Are you working?

I am also waiting for the answer, however I am expecting an August start truthfully. I am signed up to take the online Pharmacology course, as well as Spanish.

im optimisitic. Did you apply for the dunham scholarship?

I am optimistic as well, but either March or August will work out for me! Unfortunately, I live just outside the area under consideration for the Dunham Scholarship. Also, since I already have a Bachelor's degree, I am ineligible for all scholarships offered at WCC.

Really? i have to degrees and from what i read i dont qualify because of the financial need. Im broke but not broke enough!!! Well they turned me down for it. So I am now just hoping this week will be a better one and get good news!
