Watsons theory of human caring

Published

Guys I really need help with this assignment. I have searched everywhere for a site to tell me how Jean Watson came up with her Theory of human Caring but I can not find one. Does anyone know where this information may be?

Nope. Its much easier when somebody else finds the info for you.

I point students in the right direction all the time! I do not do their work for them. I teach as I was taught, and fortunately (for me), I had some great instructors who were willing to help a student having difficulty.

When oh when are the nursing schools going to stop teaching this crap. This is one pf the many reasons nurses are not truely considered porfessionals. You do not see various "caring theory" being taught in medical school. Teach the facts..that is what is needed.

that's the difference between physicians and nurses. nursing is based on holism, while physicians are simply focused on disease process. holism includes the *entire* person. seems as if you may have missed a major point of this profession.

Lol, some posters are too busy eating their young to actually read the question. OP had a very specific and difficult question, how Watson derived her theory.

I agree with a previous poster..bs assignments like this make me wish I stuck with EMS.

We should be helping each other instead of trying to put each other down.

She tried her best to find the information to a specific question and needed help.

What's wrong with her asking for help?

Just wanted to say that I used the links everyone gave me and found the information I needed. I really appreciate the help. I can see how the theory works in real practice but feel this kind of down plays all the technical and mental things we do. Once again REALLY appreciate everyone who was kind and helped me. One more year left till my BSN!

Personally I've known many highly skilled EXTREMELY competent nurses who DO NOT buy into the "Caring Theory of Nursing" as proposed by Watson.

i simply stated that caring is a HUGE part of nursing, i never stated that nurses who did not believe so are incompetent or unskilled.

this is really random but today at the hospital they had a bunch of posters up for Women's History Month and i noticed Watson on one of the posters with her theory about human caring. unfortunately i didn't really have time to read it, i just thought it was super random since i'd never heard of her before!

Stop talking about/teaching the importance of caring in nursing school? Really? Really...?

Medical schools would be improved by formally teaching the importance of caring, IMHO. Actually, any professional degree program involving dealing with patients/clients would benefit from an occasional focus on caring and theories (theory, a fancy word for organized thought & knowledge) related to caring.

I'm sure it is much too late to say this to realnursealso/LPN, but really! HOW RUDE. Perhaps if you took the time to read Jean Watson's theory you would actually be able to come up with an intelligent reply rather than a demeaning one. Jean Watson is all about caring and while there is a lot on the internet, it is difficult to pin point certain areas of her life.
