Hay all,
Thanks to my catheter coming apart every night and socking my bed I am now going to have to buy a new mattress
anyway I want to get one like the hospital has that is all waterproof "I have tried all the kinds of waterproof mattress pads and I HATE them all they are all so hot to sleep on "
Does anyone know what brand the ones in the hospital are or where I can get one for home use ? I am also toying with the idea of getting an adjustable bed"home kind not hospital Hay that was a nice bed " but the ones I saw on the net where not waterproof ? also if anyone on here has one of the home kind how do you like it ?

A waterproof mattress would be just as hot to sleep on as a waterproof pad. How about checking with a home medical supply company in your area, to see what's available? Or, call the hospital and ask where they get their beds and mattresses...
Your catheter shouldn't come apart every night. Maybe you need a new one.

Your catheter shouldn't be coming apart in bed at night. And there are a variety of waterproof products you can try.
Those plasticized mattresses are very hot to sleep on even with a pad.
Best wishes.

What about a water bed? I think the mattresses are waterproof and then you could temperature control the water in the mattress to stay cool? My dad has one with the tubes, temp controlled, and it is so awesome to sleep on. Can't imagine it would be much more expensive than a fancy adjustable bed. I think they come in a variety of sizes and hard or soft sides, so you don't have to have the large ugly frames.

My DS16 is completely incontinent so we have covered his mattress with a vinyl mattress casing. It's the type that slips on like a pillow case and zips closed. I put a soft mattress protector on top of that so he doesn't get all sweaty at night. It also cuts down on the noise the vinyl makes when you move around on it.
Why is your catheter coming undone every night, though? That shouldn't be happening.

That sounds like a grate idea where did you find your mattress casing ?
As for for the catheter it comes un hooked from the night bag all I have to do is roll over and I wake up in my very own waterbed I have tried taping it and it still pulled out . I have also had the same problem with it when I use catheter plugs the plug comes out and it pores all over me . one day at work I had to change 3 times I ran out of extra closes .

thank you ,
that one from AWs looks like what "must love poodles " was taking about :)
I do not know if I would like a waterbed I can see myself getting seasick every night on that
The ones with the tube design (several smaller tubes with water versus a big pad of water) are very calm and still to sleep on. :)

I got a waterproof mattress pad after getting an expensive white mattress because stains void the warranty. I don't remember the name of the brand but the mattress store where I bought it had cut a piece of the pad and placed it over a jar filled with blue liquid so you could feel the pad and also see that it didn't leak. I started with a typical plastic pad that may be waterproof but caused me to sweat like you wouldn't believe, even with a thick fabric pad over it! The new one I bought is really nice and very comfy, it feels like fabric and I don't sweat at all. It was pricey, just shy of $100 for a queen size, but worth it to me to provide the comfort I need to sleep but still protect the mattress.

We get his mattress protectors from Walmart. He takes a twin size, but I'm sure you could order a larger one. If WAlmart doesn't have one that will work, check with the Original Mattress Factory. They have a bunch of mattress protectors, too.
