where do you want to work when you graduate?

Published

Hi all

As the title says, Where do you want to work when you get out of school?

Me, I just don't know. So many different departments sound interesting that i will probably let the Hospital decided where to put me and see where i go from there.

I have pretty much decided that i want to work in a hospital and not in a nursing home. That is as far as i have gotten though.:)

Maternity, L & D, ICU...maybe even ER or OR....

Then again...never thought I would like "older" folks but I love my job as a home health aide. I might surprise myself.....

Mental health, oncology, maternity, ICU, probably anything except geriatrics sad to say although I have tried it on my first rotations and that really confirmed it.

Adolescents/Pediatrics, preferrably w/GI patients, since I've had Crohn's Disease most of my life. I would love to be able to help the kids that have to put up with this awful disease!!

L&D , maternity as of now--who knows haha by the time i get out of school i may change my mind--but i have always wanted to work in L&D :roll

Gosh, so many things to go into.. particularly like Psych, Mental Health right now.

:chuckle ...and, where would that be! :)

ICU, ER mostly... I know from experience I'm too figety for OR and, although I'm facinated by oncology (lost a mother to breast cancer, father & sister are cancer survivors) I don't know that I have the heart for it. For some reason, pre/post op interrests me.

I'm even on your side of town. I'm up here by Ellington, working my prereqs at SJC- South for San Jac nurisng, or maybe Alvin CC.

I am in my third semester of a 2 year ADN program. I am planning on graduating in May 7, 2003. I am very excited to be nearing graduation. I am planning on working in tele as a new grad since I already work there as a nurse extern. I have take in my co-workers suggestion of working med/surg. I feel everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I feel and trust in my skills and ability to function successfully as a new grad in tele.
