See my blog via my profile.

It shows descriptions of each of the FTXs, events, and has pictures about what the night-life is like in and around San Antonio, TX.

Hope it's a lot of help! I was glad to find different experiences about OBLC on this forum site and around blogger and myspace. For those making blogs/sharing your experiences, THANK YOU. It really helped me out and I'm returning the favor by sharing my experience.

I will be done next week. This weekend is TNCC.

if you go on the OBLC website, you will get a packing list and you will get to read the welcome letter that they send to you. Also, you do not need dress blues (Class A's) for OBLC. you graduate/ do everything in your ACU's.

May I suggest, if you haven't already getting a copy of the Army Officers Handbook (the new edition 51st) comes out next month---author is LTC Keith Bonn (Ret.)

I brought this book with me, .....not used. OBLC provides books that are pertinent to course work. If you bring books with you,,,,, you will be sorry to have to haul them around....you probably won't have time to read them and may have trouble fitting them in your duffle on the way home...... because you will probably buy a ton of "snivel gear".

ok I don't know if this is appropriate or not but I did check out your profile Congrats on OBLC graduation and there are some good looking new officers in the army. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong branch. :D

Thank you for the Grrrr8 post. Your blog was most helpful to those of us waiting in the wings for orders. Gr8 pics too. Thanks a bunch!

Oh I know all about that..Ive been waiting quite a while now..hahaha. I know that all the waiting and the snafu's that have happened will make the experience all the more sweeter....Again, my thanks for posting the pics. They are AWESOME!! I cant wait for that to be ME.

Rmenurs2b,

Tell me about the "waiting"... I was commissioned in July and I am still awaiting orders to report to my TPU.... cant go to OBLC without orders....and I wait, and wait, and wait some more...

OMG thats terrible. I am SICK of waiting..hahaha. But what can I do?? Wonder what the hold up is with your orders? Ive picked up through the posts that you should get them 6-8 weeks after commissioning. Cant your recruiter find out something for you???

I was originally told orders have been taking between 45-90 days.... with the "rare occasion of a 120 days"....

Supposedly, your recruiter cannot "put a trace" on your packet until after 90 days. So... after 90 days were up, I was bugging him 2-3 times per week. At 120 days I bothered him daily. I just heard from him on Friday... it seems my "packet" was sitting in a pile on the corner of someones desk at Battalion for the last month waiting to be forwarded to HRC. It seems I "fell through the cracks".

Cant say I know what to make of that????:banghead:

Anyway, my packet is supposedly back on track now. He said I should have orders in the next 3-4 weeks.

Im so glad to hear that. My packet is supposed to go up to board in January (just like it was supposed to go up in November, then December). Ive lost alot of faith in my recruiter, so we will see what will happen. The waiting is KILLING me.

I know EXACTLY how you are feeling. My advice... stay on your recruiter... call or email daily if you have to.

If you truly have lost faith in his ability to move your packet... contact his boss. Sometimes you need to set fire to someone's ass, other times all you need to do is let them hear the telltale "chink" of your Zippo's lid.

HAHA thats so true. Ive already been riding her tail like Zorro. The thing is, I think she is a new recruiter, plus she told me in December she was working 10 packets. Now, since I am so close to boarding, seems like she would make mine a priority to get me out of her hair. She doesnt understand how to communicate with me..If we had had open lines of communication, I would be commissioned by now..probably in November. If something doesnt happen (or if something BAD happens in January), I will be speaking with the Station Commander. He knows how motivated I am..

Good for you! Time to fuel your Zippo and make sure you have a fresh flint.:chuckle

No doubt. I just feel like I could have been commissioned a long time ago if she had just stayed in contact with me...its sad really. I dont go looking for trouble but I have NO problem lighting fires under people to get things moving in the right direction. She has sent my packet for a 'pre-review' and it looks like a sure thing for January...
