Wake Tech Spring 2017 Start

U.S.A. North Carolina

Anyone submitting an application to the nursing program at WTCC this upcoming July for spring 2017? Wanted to connect with others who may be in my shoes. I'm still working on some prerequisites (TEAS and CNA) but hope to finish them up by May. I will be transferring most of my prerequisites in from another school.

Is it September the 23rd yet??!! I. Can't. Take. It. Anymore. 16 days!!

Laila34, did health science advising confirm that we would get letters the week of 9/23? I asked Ms. BW today when we should receive letters, and I was told they would be sent in the next couple of weeks. I know way back over the summer she mentioned her goal was to send them before the end of September. The longer I wait, the more nervous I get. She said it's taking longer for her to send out letters than the RAD program because there are so many NUR applicants as compared to RAD. When she mentioned there being so many NUR applicants, my anxiety level went off the charts lol.

CN_2BRN919, when I asked "when does the nursing department send out acceptance or denial letters?"...health advising replied "they usually send the letters out the third week of September."

From what I've seen over the past at least 3 years, letters were mailed out the 3rd Friday of September. Orientations have followed exactly 2 weeks (Fridays) after they send the letters out. It would make sense bc other programs have deadlines and orientations to adhere by also in order for the college and programs to run smoothly. Nursing orientation is 1st then RAD orientation right? Isn't that what your advisor said?

Laila34, you are on top of it girl! That sounds very accurate because that would mean NUR orientation would fall on 10/7 which is before RAD orientation (as my advisor mentioned). I know for RAD my letter was dated 8/29, but I did not get it in the mail until 9/3. If my letter gets mailed 9/23, I won't get it until 9/29ish. I hope that's enough time to do the background check. I know for the background check we have to fill out a form and fax, scan, or email it to health science advising as well as "order" the actual background check. We're essentially just faxing a release agreement. I guess we could do it all in a day. There's a note at the bottom of the page that mentions if a student completed a background check in the past year for another WTCC program such as the NAI program, they may already have met the background check requirement and may not have to do another one.

I sure wish my background check that I had done this summer could count. Unfortunately, my NA1 course was not through Wake Tech. 15 days!! :yeah:

Unfortunately Laila34, I have to complete another background check since it has to be no more than a year old from the first day of class (1/5/17). . I completed mine in October of last year for the NAI program, so it will expire next month. I was also told today there are a little over 200 nursing applicants for the spring. It sounds like there are more applicants this cycle than there were for the fall. Ahhhh!

CN_BRN919, more than 200??? WOW!!! What in the world?! Where did that information come from?! That IS more than this past FALL! My stomach just flipped and I'm now even more nervous!

Laila34, do you know how many people applied this past fall? Was it around 160? I was told that information by my advisor.

Ok! I just went back to FALL 2016's thread and saw it was 203 applicants. YIKES!

Wow! It sounds like this cycle will be just as competitive as the fall. I'm thinking that if our points were enough to get us in for the fall, hopefully they will be enough to get us in for the spring. I heard that there is not going to be too much of a difference in points between the fall and the spring.

We should be fine!! I'm guessing the points will be between 156-205...just a wild guess. FALL 2016 points were 162-210. Hopefully they keep the alternate points low enough so ALL of us can get in. I read alternates points started at 140 last FALL. Lord be with us ALL!!!

Hey ladies!! Soooo, last night I was on blackboard reviewing the information session and I stumbled upon Gateway. Why and HOW did I get on Gateway..?!. I saw tons of information about uniforms, schedules, books, etc. Maybe it's information that everyone has access to but, do any of you guys have access too???? I was totally shocked.
