Wake Tech Spring 2017 Start

U.S.A. North Carolina

Anyone submitting an application to the nursing program at WTCC this upcoming July for spring 2017? Wanted to connect with others who may be in my shoes. I'm still working on some prerequisites (TEAS and CNA) but hope to finish them up by May. I will be transferring most of my prerequisites in from another school.

Hi ladies! Found out today I got into the radiography program! Eager now to hear from nursing!

Yay! I knew you'll get in! Congrats! Can't wait to hear from nursing.

Congrats!!! :cat: Did you decline? Do you have a deadline to accept or deny?

I haven't declined my seat. I talked with an advisor and was told orientation for both nursing and radiography is in October, and I will know my nursing status by the end of the month, so I will have plenty of time to decide about whether I want to keep my seat or not. Nursing orientation is before radiography orientation. I have not received my official acceptance letter for RAD yet. I was told that I was accepted by my advisor via email so I wouldn't have stress about my letter over Labor Day weekend :) whew! We were talking back and forth about spring 2017 admission and he decided to just tell me lol

So happy for you CN_2bRN919! Why can't I have an advisor like yours? I don't have one. :***:

That's awesome!! We have 21 days..:roflmao:

Hi ladies! I officially received my radiography letter today. Orientation for RAD is 10/12 and I was told orientation for NUR would be before that, so I guess that's a little piece of new information. Orientation for NUR will be before 10/12. That's just around the corner! Hopefully we'll get letters sooner than the tail end of September because we have to complete a background check prior to orientation that could take 3-5 days.

That means we should be getting our letter(s) two weeks from now and not later than 3 weeks :dead:. So, once/if we receive an acceptance letter from the nursing program, is it safe to say that we are a nursing student and not a pre-nursing student anymore? I am currently re-writing my resume. :writing:

WSMom, CNA, I think you are right. But our clinical nursing student status is also contingent upon us meeting the clinical requirements (i.e. passing background check, drug test, turning in health records on time). But the only thing we are required to do before orientation is the background check. Everything else we'll do after orientation. I wonder (or does anyone know-- EmilyNicole91) how soon after orientation we would register for NUR 111? My RAD letter says the first day of classes for spring 2017 is 1/5. I know that we have to upload all of our information for clinical onto a portal. So do we pay and set up the portal account at the same time? I wonder how that works? I know it costs to use the portal. I wonder if you initially set it up for free, but the charge for it is tagged onto our reoccurring fees when tuition is due.

Bought a new agenda today through 12/2017. Slowly organizing my life before jumping head first into this program (well fingers still crossed I'm admitted) If we haven't received letters in the next two weeks I'm thinking about emailing Ms. BW to follow up. Anxiety at its finest!

Hey Girls! Man have I missed so much! I know, I've been MIA for sure, but like 2BRN said, anxiety at its finest. I had to back off for a while because I seriously get anxiety from All Nurses..... Who'd a thunk it right. Been blogging however and waiting un-anxiously

More then likely I'll update on my blog my status once I receive the letter!!!!!

Plan to document this journey from clinicals, schedules, classmates, you name, I'm gonna write it.

WSM, can you imagine if its only 2 weeks left....omg.

2BRN congrats on this. Love the fact that you've given yourself two options. Have you worked with it around any radiographers?

Hi Jpeters247! As bad as it sounds, I have no experience when it come to RAD tech. I have never shadowed anyone. I have several friends who are RAD techs, so when I got my letter, I called one. We talked for a while about what she does, what she specializes in, how much she makes, the job opportunity available in the field after graduation etc. Essentially all the nitty gritty that no one talks about. She mentioned that she could get me a shadowing opportunity if RAD was something I was serious about. I told her that I would wait until I heard back from NUR before I took her up on that offer.
