Anyone submitting an application to the nursing program at WTCC this upcoming July for spring 2017? Wanted to connect with others who may be in my shoes. I'm still working on some prerequisites (TEAS and CNA) but hope to finish them up by May. I will be transferring most of my prerequisites in from another school.
WSMom, CNA, thank you for the contact information. I followed up with her. I'm sure me getting it already is probably fine. I talked with a couple of friends some are in the program and some graduated.. they said that they typically got theirs in August to get it out of the way. Concerning all of the clinical requirements for the program, none of those components would be due until several weeks after orientation. With the exception of the background check, that is due before orientation. From past posts, it seems as though students get the info for the background check in the mail with their acceptance letter.
WHATS UP EVERYONE. It's been a while since I've posted. Nothing new or worth mentioning I guess, just shooting the breeze when there is any with this weather we've been having, yuk. Too hot to even think about anything. Blogging and reading other blogs, and nursing school videos has been fun and getting the little one back into school mode. Hubby starts his nursing prereqs tomorrow. Eng 111, Psy 150 and Math. 38 more days to a letter, 2 more weeks until I decorate for the Fall and 1 more week until my first grader is back in school.
P.S Thanks for checking out my blog! Cant wait to add more on nursing things, but for now just simple the simple stuff
JPeters247, good luck to your hubby today! I am sure he will do fabulous! Soon you'll be talking to him about what he should expect when he gets to the clinical phase since you'll know firsthand
This time next month I'm sure we'll be asking each other if anyone has received a letter. I marked on my calendar that they'll probably start sending them out around 9/18. Ms. W said that she would begin reviewing applications for spring 2017 once the fall semester begins. Happy first day of fall semester --- we're getting there!!
Thanks so MUCH. It was like nurturing a child into the right direction, lol. I printed out his course outlines and made him a schedule from now until the semester is over. I guess because I know how much these classes matter once you submit application for clinical phase. With two kids, working 4 twelve hour shifts, keeping his gym routine, being there for kids and myself, I really want him to have a balance and still obtain good grades. I was just telling him it's really possible to get all B's, easy if you will. But it takes a little more push to stretch it out to A, even with all that we have on our plate.
I also did email Mrs. Watkins and asked if she'd be using my HUM 115 which was my only A and not my first humanities class which was RELIGION. She said she had not began looking at applications, she nor any other advisor because they're busy advising, etc. However, she knew for sure that they'd use the HUM 115.
CN_2bRN919 I'm glad they said OK for your Flu shot. Yeah, Ms. Smith replied back to me as well. She said I should wait for the shot till September.
Jpeters247 Yay for hubby in taking nursing! We know you got him, you are the best adviser than the one in school:yes:, you just finished your pre reqs!.
gaaah! one more month!! I can't take the suspense and excitement when I think of it. I have to focus on my BIO, gotta pass this class.
Finally purchased a manual blood pressure cuff so that I can start practicing my vitals again. I was previously using a cuff that I borrowed from a friend. Haven't practiced blood pressure since I passed the NACES in May í ½í¸³ Trying to continue to be proactive while I wait until September. Past posts have said that there is a vitals exam the first day of class and to continue to practice CNA skills. Still crossing my fingers for an acceptance letter in 30 days!! So anxious, nervous, and excited!!

Definitely get a titer before you determine whether you need to get the series a third time. I had to have a titer to prove I wasn't immune from the first series in order for insurance to cover it. I'm hoping I gain immunity after this series. I won't be able to get a titer until December since I have to wait 30 days after my last shot before they draw blood. Luckily the nursing program will take my first series of shots and getting a titer is our personal choice.
