Anyone submitting an application to the nursing program at WTCC this upcoming July for spring 2017? Wanted to connect with others who may be in my shoes. I'm still working on some prerequisites (TEAS and CNA) but hope to finish them up by May. I will be transferring most of my prerequisites in from another school.
Laila34 Yaay! Thanks for the update! I didn't get an email too.
CN_2bRN919 Yeah, I believe so. On the application, it says
MATH: Math proficiency may be satisfied by completion of ONE of the following, please check only the most current:
__ Minimum score on placement test (Accuplacer or ASSET, SAT, ACT, COMPASS)
__ A 4 year College level Mathematics course with a minimum grade of C
__ DMA 010-040 or MAT 070 with a minimum grade of C and college where course was completed
I checked the 1st one, which is Accuplacer. Your most current would be Accuplacer too, so I'm sure they will check on that.
So, I printed the Immunization and Physical forms today. I'm scheduled for 1st TB test next week. I do remember that I have all the immunizations when I took my CNA class 2 years ago. I am guessing those forms are not valid anymore. I emailed Ms. Watkins, but do you guys know if I can go ahead and schedule all of these with our family doctor? ( I swear, this month is all about me seeing a doctor, nurse or a phlebotomist).
WSMom, CNA, I did most if not all at my normal family doctor... even the two TB tests. Right now I'm in the process of getting my Hep B series again. I'll get my third shot at the end of November. I got the series as a child but did not gain immunity so I am doing the series a second time. I renewed my CPR back in March since that was going to expire in January. The only thing I am missing at this point is getting a physical. I got a physicial last year the week of Halloween so my insurance will not cover another one until around that time this year. If the paperwork is due before early November, I'll more than likely just go to an urgent care and get one and will just have to pay out of pocket. I did some research and my local urgent care will give me a physicial for $30-70 depending on how in depth it needs to be. I went ahead and did as much of those requirements as I could so once I am actually admitted all I would have to do is do a drug test, background check, and get a physicial. At that physicial I will need to get a flu shot. I was going to go ahead and get one now. Most pharmacies start receiving flu vaccines late August, but the sheet says that the shot has to be given after October 1st?--- just went back and reread that sheet. It would be due 10/1... of course it would be later for us since we probably won't even have orientation until then. I probably could go ahead and get a flu shot now if I wanted.
Yeah, Flu shot says October 1st. So, since I just had a surgery last month (the bill was huge of course, had to pay out of pocket too), my insurance still should cover my physical exam and titter immunizations, right? I haven't done one in two years. The last time was 2014. Good to know that urgent care can do that. That price is not bad at all! Thanks for the info! My CPR class is scheduled next saturday. I remember getting a hep B series in 2014 ( I think 2). I wonder if I need to to get a third series.

CN_2bRN919 Yeah, my scores were 7's and 8's. They said I did not need to take any math class anymore. When I applied for Fall 2016, my accuplacer scores are all I have for math.
Laila34 Thank you! Yeah, it is the scheduling problem with me as well. It's ok, I can now breath as I have my back up plan. I will just have to make sure I pass it!
Jpeters247 Hey girl! Read your blog! You are entertaining! Good for you! The decorating on a dime is a great idea, I'm gonna check that out when you post some on that section:up:
