Wake Tech Spring 2017 Start

Published

Anyone submitting an application to the nursing program at WTCC this upcoming July for spring 2017? Wanted to connect with others who may be in my shoes. I'm still working on some prerequisites (TEAS and CNA) but hope to finish them up by May. I will be transferring most of my prerequisites in from another school.

I took it a while ago. End of 2013. I had Mrs. Betty Gardner at the public health and safety building. It might have been just something she did? Or maybe old format? Either way you'll be fine without it.

Hi ladies! I was told by my Director that your name doesn't appear in the registry until 2 weeks after you pass the exam. I also spoke with an old nursing student and she said that you HAVE to be on the registry. Turning in your CNA "completion" papers won't count. We also have to put our CNA expiration date on the nursing application but, there's no way of knowing that until we're on the registry. :arghh:

There are some CNA jobs that are very flexible with schooling, assuming you are okay with being a nurse aide for a while. Does anyone know when graduation is for spring applicants? I'm assuming end of fall 2018. Fall 2017 goes Fall Spring summer fall spring and graduate end of spring 2018. I'm assuming Spring skips summer initially... so Spring Fall spring summer fall possibly? Sorry if I'm a bit confusing as I couldn't find the info online. Might be time to email Mrs.Watkins but I don't want to bother her. She's a busy woman around this time of year.

bgo26, it's spring/summer/fall/spring/fall from what I understand. I had Ms. Watkins email me a copy of the program planning guide a couple of weeks ago.

With spring entry you skip one summer...I believe it's the second summer you skip. So Spring 2017 would graduate December of 2018. A lot of places are flexible with NAs going to nursing school. I work at UNC and my nurse manager is super supportive and said not to worry about my schedule, that we'd figure it out.

I'd much rather enter in the fall. The difference between Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 class end is 7 and a half months. Oh well, no point in stressing over something that can't be helped.

Bgo26 that's why I think if I don't get in at wake I will just go to my second choice...that way I'm an RN sooner...I can't wait to be an RN!

I don't blame you, AP. I would too if i were you since you already applied elsewhere. I just know a few people who are in the program and some who will be soon. I've been drawn to Wake Tech since moving to NC few year ago. I will apply to other colleges when I can but think I will end up at Wake.

I heard back from Mrs. Watkins and I am now alternate number 6 (previously 11). I thought I'd share so any other alternates can figure out their new status. She also said more alternates are usually accepted in the fall so I should be hopeful!

Yaay! That was rather quick! I wonder if that's because students didn't turn things in on time or declined. You guys might get accepted by the end of the week! Best of luck guys!! :inlove::)

Thank you!! I think it was a mix of both. She said BC of all the deadlines more alternates get accepted. She also said that with the program being 4 months away that is plenty of time for people in the program and alternates to decline.

That makes me 9, which makes me a little happier! I can't wait to move up more! I haven't heard back from her yet, so thank you for telling me!!!
