Waiting on Ivy Tech acceptance letters thread

U.S.A. Indiana

Published

I thought it might be nice to have a place for us to vent our frustrations with waiting until May 30th or so when letters start going out. I know I'm going nuts already!

How about introductions and a little info about each person?

I'm applying to both Bloomington and Indy-Lawrence for the Fall 2009 ASN programs. I turned in my apps this week with 4 As on the pre-reqs and a 90.0 on the TEAS. My eventual goal is at least getting a BSN, and if I feel like doing homework long enough, an MSN of some sort. I work full time now, but will hopefully only work part time if I get accepted. I'm so antsy to start preparing and finally feel like all of this is real!

Yeah!!! The mailman just got here and I am in!!! I am so relieved and excited. I haven't even read the paperwork yet. Congratulations to everyone that got in!!

Wooo!:yeah:Congrats xandersmama! Can't wait to see you at orientation!

For those of you that work:

What are you going to do about your jobs once you start your programs?

Sorry to double post but I missed something.....

CoNgRaTs XaNdErSmOmMa!! Which campus are you going to?

Fort Wayne. I am so nervous about figuring out all this immunization and physical stuff.

IndyIvy, I'm planning on quitting my job and not working, at least for the first semester. I'm been preparing for this. I actually have had all my pre-reqs done since Dec. 07, but I knew I wouldn't want to work during the program, so I waited untilw e had enough in savings.

Xandersmama, I know! I opened the letter and I was pretty overwhelmed by all the info and stuff that needs to be done! I'mjust making a huge spreadsheet and crossing each immunization and other thing off one at a time as I get the documentation.

Congrats to you too Victoria! Congrats to anyone else I missed. I'm trying to keep up. :yeah:

You Ft Wayne gals got a list of what you need with your letters? Indy folks only got a congrats letter with a date for our meeting pretty much. didn't tell much more.

BLoomington's letter tells about uniforms (when, price, etc).

What info did they give you?? What do you have to get done? It will help me get a head start! I'll have a mental note of what I need to get done, appts to make etc.

Thanks!

i got in!!!!!!!! can't wait for orientation. but wow all the immunizations, physical, background check and drug screen stuff is a little overwhelming. whew!!! and i guess the scheduling of classes is first come first serve. well, for those that turn in thier health form and cpr cert first anyway. wow, i've got a lot to do now.

this is for everybody here!

:stdnrsrck:

Ok this is the info i got in my letter

1. It is required that you have proof of immunization for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella, either by record or positive titers to all three diseases.

2. Must show proof of a Tetorifice/Diptheria booster in last 10 years

3. Must show proof of Chicken Pox/Varicella Immunity either by titer, vaccine, or physician diagnosis

4. A series of 3 Hepatitis B vaccinations are required. (You may decline, ask your director for a waiver)

5. You must submit proof of a yearly negative Mantoux Test or complete a 2 step test.

6. You must submit proof of healthcare provider level or professional rescuer lever CPR certification card. No other CPR will be accepted.

7. You must submit a background check and drug screen test that can be paid for and obtained at Certifiedbackground.com (this may just be my school tho)

8. You must attend the new nursing orientation session

ok. well, i hope this helps and i hope that i didn't miss anything. GOOD LUCK everbody!

THanks for that! Congrats on getting in too!

The first to register in your program are the ones who have their CPR certification and health records turned in. Wow....I guess you gals need to get on it so that you can get the schedule you want. I am assuming Indy does not do it like that b/c the lady told me when I called that we will register that day of our info session (and we haven't gotten any info yet either)

Hey Everybody! I was trying to find CPR class (healthcare provider or professional rescuer level) PRONTO! and i found this... i thought some of you might be interested. go to cprtoday.com. i am thinking about it. if i don't its $80 at AHA or at the school. the dates that they have available aren't going to work for me though. still not really sure. anyway, check it out!

Is it only online? I think JD said they don't accept online certification? I'm just taking mine through Red Cross on June 20th. It costs $65, but I just want to get it done with. I've been trying to organize everything today!

And before I forget --- CONGRATS achgirl!!! I'm so glad we all got in for Fort Wayne! I have loved having this thread the past month!
