waiting game?

I am officially applying to carrington college in Reno! I know that nursing is what i'm meant to do! My interview went terrific... They take 32 people, and I was told 350 were going to take the hesi a2. I know a good chunk of those people might not even pass, and then you have to make sure everything gets done before the deadline (drug test, background check, documents etc.) I took the Hesi a2 on a weeks notice... studied my butt of and managed a 92%! (or a 277/300). Everyone is telling me I should be proud of my score... And that I shouldn't be worried about getting in.... BUT I AM! Letters will be mailed out Nov 28th. I'm dying already! Is 92% (277) a competitive score?? Admissions reps asked if I was considering taking the test again... But I heard them ask that to everyone that was interviewing in the rooms next to me as well. All of the dates are full and I am on a waiting list... But bottom line i'm trying to feel confident in my score, but I'm a worrier by nature. I like to be the best! (Terrible habit I know). Any insight or help would be much appreciated! :)

Nice to meet you! My name is Rebecca. I will be in sociology this upcoming semester as well.

I received a list of the breakdown of book/supplies. It said that the two set of scrubs cost around 40 bucks. So about 20 bucks/pair. I'm planning on buying 5. I hate laundry too!

I will just be in one class in the spring and one in the summer probably (still trying to get a class transfered in.)

Glad you got everything worked out Sammy!

I'm so excited too but still trying to get finances in order. Are all of you on Facebook? I'm thinking of making a private group or page for the Carrington class of Fall 2013. Let me know and then I can private message everyone once I make a page. I don't know if I can private message on this site yet ( you have to make so many posts)

Again, congrats to both of you! :)

How did you get that list?! Is it on a computer by chance so it can be emailed?! :) and yes I have facebook... That sounds like an amazing idea!! If you do in fact need to buy more time is suggest doing it the way I did. Lol. Weight off my shoulders. They didn't say when I'd be taking what classes... But I'd assume if sociology is being offered the first semester then that's when I'll be taking it as well! I just want that schedule!

Just adding my input, congrats that you guys made it in. Do any of you think the price is extreme? Also, I see that some have expressed their irritations make sure that when you start you feel good about the decision. Follow your guts! So many people have went against it and have been stuck paying back loans and haven't received the education they are paying for. Keep in mind most schools start with admission and they are they normally the best the school offers.

I just wanted to express my thoughts good luck in your nursing careers!

Rebecca, I also have FB and think that's a great idea. I will send you a private message with my info. :-)

Congratulations to all of you, I want to be where you are! I take the test on February 18th, and feel I must also score in the high 90's in order to be accepted. I bought the study guide they suggested as well as hesi A2 secrets, plus a Kaplan nursing entrance exam. I am most worried about the vocabulary section. What did you use to study for vocabulary section? Also, how was the reading comprehension section? I appreciate any suggestions you have. Thank you.

I scored a 100 on the vocabulary section, I suggest that you just study the word definitions in the Evolve HESI study guide. That was all that I did. Don't assume that you know the meaning of the words as you go down the list, make sure to read the definitions since they are looking for the medical meaning of words and not necessarily the common usages you may know. I also scored 100 on the math section. I completed every sample questions at the end of each section in the study guide as well as the sample test. The reading comprehension section in my opinion is impossible to study for. There really aren't incorrect answer, just answers that are better than the others. It's all a bit subjective. As long as you study you should do great. Good luck. :-)

Hello everybody, I am new to this forum. I just applied to the Carrington nursing program, Reno campus this afternoon. I only received a 91.3%(274) on the hesi last wk and am signed up to take the hesi again this coming Saturday. I am debating as to whether I should take it again or not???? please let me know if you have any info on what the scores have been for the last couple semesters. thanks a million!

Hi jwhitelock, I took the test in February, and have the same score as you do, unless you decided to re-take the test. I was afraid to take it again, and do worse, and then not be able to take it again for another year. Did you have your interview, and register for financial aid, and all of the other requirements? I am really hoping to get in this go round, hope you are able to too. One more week to go...

I am scheduled to take my Hesi exam on the 30th of this month. I am very nervous. I bought a study guide online off amazon.com. Dont have it with me but it is the one with the yellow cover. I have been taking practice tests online and they are nothing like the study guide I bought. What materials did you guys use to study?? I feel more unprepared for this test every time I look up online practice tests. The study I have is easy compared to this stuff online. HELP!!!!!!!!!

I am in the program, and I LOVE it. I used the book with the yellow cover and did well. Take a deep breath, and have a nap. You'll be fine. :-)
