I scored a 100 on the vocabulary section, I suggest that you just study the word definitions in the Evolve HESI study guide. That was all that I did. Don't assume that you know the meaning of the words as you go down the list, make sure to read the definitions since they are looking for the medical meaning of words and not necessarily the common usages you may know. I also scored 100 on the math section. I completed every sample questions at the end of each section in the study guide as well as the sample test. The reading comprehension section in my opinion is impossible to study for. There really aren't incorrect answer, just answers that are better than the others. It's all a bit subjective. As long as you study you should do great. Good luck. :-)

excess money...not access...geez

They had to adjust my schedule to make my financial aid work. Originally I would have been taking english and sociology my first semester and communications my second but I needed to have two classes my second semester for financial aid. The amount I am referring to my needing to pay is the amount my loans won't cover. The first academic year my charges are around $3600 but I will taking out the full student loan amount of $9500 and using the access to pay down part of the money for the second academic year. The total amount for year two is $21049 and the loan amount will be $10500 and I will be applying the $5700 loan surplus amount for the first year to year two and the amount I will owe with other funds will be about $5000 and then the amount not covered by my normal student loans for year three will be $5000. I hope that kind of makes sense..

I had my meeting today. With my transfer credits my total cost is just over $42000 as well. We figured out my federal student loans and I would need to come up with around $5000 my second academic year and the same amount the third academic year. She asked how I will be paying and I said either a private loan or with money from my savings account. She said okay, so I will just put that amount as a payment. That was it. Sammy, I don't think you need to be worried. They didn't tell me I needed to prove I had a loan for the additional money or that I had the money in my account. They just want to know that you have a plan to get it. As far as classes go, I will be taking english the first semester and then socialogy and communications the second semester. Becki said that they probably won't have schedules for everyone until the orientation. I hope that helps! I really don't think you have anything to worry about.

Becky called me back tonight around 7:00. I asked her about what we were discussing about securing financing for the second academic year and she said she didn't know anything about it. I have an appt tomorrow at 2:00 and I will let you know what I find out. I have 21 transfer credits so that part is nice and I subtracted the amount off the books that I won't need so combined it was a decent chunk of change. :-)

I think they are probably more concerned that you have a definite plan on how to pay for it. Not that the money is secured, but that you have a plan for obtaining it once you reach the second academic year.

Hmm, interesting that they would ask for that. I suppose maybe they have had issues in the past because Stafford loans alone don't cover the full amount of the program.

Did you both speak with Becky or did you speak with someone else in the administration?

I have called twice to confirm that I want to accept my seat, but I keep getting voicemail. I left a message today but didn't hear back from Becky. I spoke with financial aid when I interviewed and I had already listed them on my FAFSA application so they had all my financial information. I'm thinking if I am not hearing back from them that I am good to go, I will let you know if I hear any different once I reach someone. Sorry Sammy, I couldn't respond to your private message. I haven't met their minimum number of posts required to use private messages. :-P

Yay! I feel much better based on the information they gave you. I was so frustrated that they don't give you any baseline score to work towards. I am a perfectionist too and it kills me not to know if what I scored is good enough or not. At this point though I don't think I could have done any better. I am confident that we both should be good though. :-D

A 285 sounds much more competitive. I only know others applying from the two HESI's I've taken and talking to the others that were there. I don't know anyone with scores as high as either of ours so I think we both stand a good chance of getting in. I am applying for January. The class averages on both that took were in the mid-80 range. The person I interviewed with would not give me any information regarding what my chances were. He said what was a good score last semester may not be the same this semester. :-P
