Waiting CA NCLEX RN results from 8/22

Published

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone else out there took the NCLEX exam this past Wednesday in California and have seen their name posted on the BON website? I took the test in San Francisco and got ALL 265 questions! I left pearson with a huge knot in my stomach and I felt like I had been hit by a ton of bricks! I was so drained!

So now the wait is what is killing me! Yesterday the website was not updated for some reason so I had hope that my name would appear today, but no such luck. Now I have to wait until Tuesday since the website doesn't get updated until Monday night! :(

Is anyone else in the same boat? Thanks.

Dear Bettle01,

A lotto ticket sounds better and better each day that goes by. At my work they basically told me that if I don't pass, I'm fired (in a very polite manner anyway). I would definitively consider doing that Langerquist (forgive the spelling). Keep me in mind if this situation arises.

I took the Kaplan review right after graduation. I felt it really didn't help that much. They have a "strategy" for answering the different question types, but many from my class (I graduated from the Santa Rosa Junior College by the way) felt that during the NCLEX, their suppossed strategy didn't help as much as proposed. I myself was dissapointed with Kaplan as well, especially since I forked over 500 dollars for that course. So i'd be willing to try something else... what do you think?

Sincerely,

Capuzcapuz

Hey Capuzcapuz,

My job basically told me the same thing. Nothing like kicking you while you are down. I too did the kaplan review after graduation. After failing the first time I did get my $500 dollars back. But as you study for the test a second time, knowing what type and how questions are asked on the NCLEX, you realize that kaplan is the most similar (atleast to me). With that said, I then purchased the QBank at kaplan to continue doing questions. Ughhhh.

If there's a next time......(maybe not, fingers crossed)....I'd like to take a different approach. After I failed the test I got information in the mail from Sally Lagerquist about her review. Here is her website

http://nclex.reviewfornurses.com. It's set up much like kaplan. Her review prep has a 98% pass rate for the NCLEX for first and multiple time test takers...good enough for me!!!

Lets wait and see what this week brings...talk to you soon!

Hi Beetle01,

I still have not heard anything. Have you? I have a couple of questions that you may be kind enough to answer. The first: how would I know if i didn't pass? do i get an email? a letter? anything??? Second, can i take the NCLEX again 30 days after I initially took the test (aug 23) or 30 days from when I find out i failed?, third, Is it difficult to get a refund from Kaplan if I didnt pass? ... thank you for your upbeat attitude despite the anguish. I pray you can answer these questions, i hate being in the dark

Very gratefully,

Capuzcapuz:o

I took NCLEX Aug 15, they mailed out my result 14 days after. I don't have SSN.

To those who are waiting for the result, it might take at 2 wks through mail.

Hey Capuzcapuz,

Nothing here...still waiting! I'll do my best to answer your questions based on my past experiences......

1. The only way to know if you pass/fail is by the mail. You WILL get a letter either way. (My experience from both previous times was exactly 17 days, counting weekends from the day after my test date via mail, big white envelope...failed). Since you just graduated and this was your first time taking the test I would call the BRN and ask if anything is holding up your file. Meaning, do they have your transcripts, background check, fingerprints etc. If any of this is missing your name will not be posted on the BRN. (Don't suspect you failed until you talk to the BRN and they tell you that they have everything they need from you).

2. You can retest 45 days from the day you took the test. (day one would be Aug. 24th for you). If you have to retake the test your re-apllication slip will be in your failure letter. Resubmit the application with your $75 fee and then you have to register again with pearsonvue and give them another $200. Your ATT will be issued and you can reschedule your test date as long as it is after your 45 day mark. The ATT will say what date your test has to be taken after.

3. You have to call kaplan and tell them that you didn't pass. They will ask you for a copy of your failure letter to be faxed or mailed to them. They will ask you if you would like to attend another class or if you would like to extend your Qbank/Qtrainer instead of a full refund. If you want the full refund they will only refund your $500 however you orginially paid for the class. If you paid by credit card, your $500 will credited back to the card. No cash refunds unless you paid with cash. My refund took about 3 weeks.

I hope this helps! If I can help you with anything else let me know. I do have one question for you.....what review courses did your classmates take to help them pass the test other than kaplan?

Let me know what the BRN tells you...good luck! Talk to you soon!

;)Beetle

Dear Beetle01,

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I really appreciate the time you put into answering my questions. You have heart of gold and your fiance is a very lucky man.

I actually did call the BRN and they said that they had all my paperwork, and that I "shouldn't worry" because they have a month to send out the confirmation by mail. NOW I have a really serious feeling that I didn't pass. My wedding is Oct 20th, and by what you said, I can retake my test Oct 7th, but, I don't know if I should...... talk about ruining my honeymoon, thinking about the darn NCLEX....

Regarding your question, I would say that almost my entire class took the Kaplan Review Course, with the exception of a few. I heard about some taking the Langerquist (forgive the spelling) course and liking it. I'm sorry but that's all they did (that I know of). Oh well, guess I'd better cheer up for my wedding.....

Thanks Beetle, I'll keep you posted on my results, and you keep me posted on yours. Take care,

Sincerely,

Capuzcapuz:o
