waiting, Air Force Nurse Corps

Published

Hello all, I am new to this forum, but have been reading from it for some time. I am curious. Who is still waiting for the fully qualified selection status from Jan boards? It seems that AFPC is busy with other matters for the immediate future. I am waiting patiently....well not so patiently!

sooo My recruiter told me I was accepted about 3 weeks ago and that I will be going to COT in march. I havent heard anymore and am waiting for my assignment. Is this normal?

Unfortunately it seems to be becoming the norm.

Stay on the recruiter. Don't let him/her forget about you and don't assume he/she is doing their job for you. I don't mean be a jerk, but I'd check in every three days or so (at least via email - and CC yourself so you know and can prove the email actually did make it into the great ether that is the World Wide Web) and maybe call once a week if I was using email.

Stay on them.

ugghhh not til January!!! i was shocked to hear back so soon,,..so many people on this board have gone through some horrible waits. The again I did spend about 8 months clearing MEPS....

I am in PA!@!!! Hawaii!!! Wow, I can't see why you would want to leave there and end up anywhere else....

Hey HNELLA, I will be going to cot also! I was in the April board, I have already received an experience waiver and know my base assignment. I am so excited! I bet you are also. Januray is a great time to go to COT. My father-in-law was stationed at Maxwell and it is sooo hot and humid there for so much of the year.

Hey I count 2 plus myself going to COT in Jan 11....anyone else? We need to get together so to speak and help each other.. I'm a Navy wife husband's retired with 21 yrs and both sons are presently active AF. I guess I will be the old lady of the class, but I don't care. Wanted to join since I was in my 20's but I was too busy raising kids and my husband was having his career. Now its my turn!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait, going to Andrews after COT. I got my #2 pick so I am happy.

I will also be going to COT in Jan. My husband in currently active duty in the AF. I was very surprised I got a Jan COT date as my recruiter had fully qualified nurses receiving Mar and Apr dates. Look forward to chatting.

I am also going to COT in January. I don't know my base assignment yet, hopefully I hear something soon. My recruiter told me that I probably won't comission until October or November. So many things changed already I just don't know anymore, so I just have to wait and see.

What is an experience waiver???

Jan does sound cooler than May/August. I grew up in FL so I know all about heat and humidity (that is why I moved away). However, I do run so much better in the heat.

I had my acceptance letter with cot date and base asssignment. Now comes all the worries about signing my life away. Since hearing that I am in I have 100 questions and will probably drive my recruiter nuts!!

Jan is such a long way away and loads to do before then...

There's not anything called an "experience waiver" - I think what the poster means is he/she has more than six months' experience so they don't need to attend NTP; they're going in as a qualified nurse.

No, Carolinapooh. I have one year experience and needed to get an experience waiver to go to a base with only a clinic. In order to work in a clinic you need to have 3 yrs of experience. I do not have three years of experience therefore I needed a waiver signed from the Chief Nurse at Hill AFB in order to get stationed with my husband. You may not have known about an "experience waiver" if you were not in the position to need one. On a site like this you may want to check facts before making assumptions about what a poster means. I am not trying to be rude, but each individual on this site while going through the same process may experience different road blocks, and one persons road block may help another create opportunity if facts are shared accurately. :)

HNELLA I know Jan seems so far away! Are you working until then?? My husband PCS's in August so I am thankful I did not get an earlier date we are all over the place right now. Well, my unsolicited advice is have an awesome holiday season and spend lots of time with friends before transitioning to the AF!

Easy, there - no need to be rude; I wasn't....at least, I didn't mean to be......there's other ways to correct folks.

Also - remember the amount of incorrect information people are given as well that I see every day. I've actually heard people call "fully qualified" any number of incorrect things, and in this case I assumed incorrectly.

I just got a call from a Col. and she said "we're happy to have you! ". She just had question to ask. Board finished today. So basically just awaiting my assignment and official call. I'm so excited! I can't wait!
