waiting, Air Force Nurse Corps

Published

Hello all, I am new to this forum, but have been reading from it for some time. I am curious. Who is still waiting for the fully qualified selection status from Jan boards? It seems that AFPC is busy with other matters for the immediate future. I am waiting patiently....well not so patiently!

Just so you know, I applied fully qualified on October 28, 2009. I got my acceptance and COT/first assignment on March 15th, 2010. I had expected to hear in Dec and go in January.

Hang in there! It will happen! I totally know feel your frustration. Now, I'm readying to go in May. It's exciting, nerve-wracking, and life changing. Try to stay busy and positive.

Good luck. :)

I too submitted my packet for January's boards and I found out today that I am going to Tyndall in Panama City Beach, Fl!!! The only downside is that I'm not leaving until March of next year :( Regardless, I am excited that I got selected and am going to be joining the USAF!!!!

my paperwork is in for this coming april 27th board for fully qualified. i anticipate a very long wait to hear anything and i will be shocked if i go to cot in 2010. it is very frustrating to have my life on hold for that long but i try not to complain since waiting is a recurring theme with the military. if anyone has any suggestions for good distractions (besides working and going to the gym) i am all ears.

Congrats Travelcrazy!

Nashville, I had a great distraction, but I sure wouldn't recommend it. My daughter got married. Today. I've been up and running since 0600 and now it is passed midnight, and my day has just ended. I prepped the place, fetched and bought and served all the food, calmed an hysterical bride, managed a hostile mother of the groom, reunited nontalking family, did hair and dressed the bride and girls. Then after helping clean, I took all the presents to their new apartment - the 3rd floor. It took 11 trips up and down (by myself). I've still got my smile glued to my face.

I figure, this was good practice for COT - it was more challenging than any day I remember from Army basic training. lol.

Thanks for letting me vent! :) I'm calm now.

Congrats Travelcrazy! Sorry Cot is so far away. My recruiter told me it could go something like that. So I suppose that the results are slowly coming out. And thanks midinphx for the encouragement.

Wow Midinphx! That is a busy day. I wouldn't know from personal experience since I have never gotten married. I hope you were able to enjoy the wedding even though the process was stressful.

Congrats, Mid!!! And to your daughter as well!!!

Thanks for the support!

Now back to the original purpose of the thread. lol.

It took me 4.5 months to hear back of my acceptance. I have COT in May. On here, people were freaking out that there were no slots until months later. So relax. I had hoped to go this passed January, But i'm so pleased with May (I did have some important things to do anyway. :) )

So, I will try to relax. I don't really care when I go to COT just as long as I get selected. From what I understand, many new grads were hired and that is why COT dates are so far out. However, the Air Force is reducing its size and more nurses have applied than expected possibly due to the economy. And, it seems that official results are slowly coming out from the Jan board even though unofficial selections have been made. Hopefully, I will hear in the next couple of weeks. I was just wondering if anyone on this forum was still awaiting these results.

Wac44,

we all know how hard the wait is. Really. We kept hearing about "magic dates" when the results would be in. So many of those came and went for me. I felt like I was the only one left. But they got around to it..... 5.5months later. It is so hard to wait and wonder.

You will get in. :)

Thanks again for your encouragement. I am staying positive and just excited to get started.
