Waiting on acceptance/rejection letters

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am a nervous wreck waiting on whether or not I am accepted to my school's nursing program for this fall 2013, and thought that starting this thread may be able to keep myself and others company......:nailbiting:....Please feel free to write anything while we wait.

Everytime I think of accpetance/rejection letters going out, my stomach turns into knots. I got an 88.7 on my TEAS V, OVerall GPA is a 3.72, competitive GPA 3.5. IVe applied to 2 schools, one is a BSN program, the other ADN. BSN cut-off is Jan 31st, ADN May 23rd I think. I have no idea when interviews will be given, if I am selected for one. I am going nuts nuts nuts. Frankly, if I dont get in I dont know how much longer I am willing to wait/try. I feel like this process has been taking FOREVER. '

Best of luck to everyone!

What type of program are you applying to where you can't specify when you want to start? I am just wondering not bashing the program. That's a first for me. I am applying for the fall and my deadline for being notified is the same as your deadline (March 1) financial aid notification will still take a while though...

That's the way the community college set up their admissions to their nursing program. There are 128 seats and admissions are done once a year. They split the 128 seats into 64 for the Fall cohort and 64 for the Spring. You have no control over which cohort you're assigned to. It's a points-based admissions system, no waiting list. In-district students get an extra 5 points for being residents to prevent out-of-district applicants from bumping out qualified applicants who pay taxes in-district. There are usually 350+ applications for those 128 seats, so it's very competitive.

Wow I learned something new today. Obviously, I didn't apply to a community college, but thanks for the information. I don't think I could go through that.;/

I'm also going to be in the waiting boat. Our app deadlines are April 1 and letters don't get sent out until probably the first week of June. I'm only applying to one ASN program, if I don't get it I will try again in the fall for Spring 2014 but really hope I don't have to do that! My GPA is 4.0 and I'm finishing the last of my pre req's currently.

Waiting waiting waiting! I applied for the Summer 2013 program and should hear back in the next month. I had to take the NLN (98%) and my GPA is currently a 3.75. Hopeful, but I know there are a limited number of seats available. Yikes! I don't know what I'll do if I don't get in. My husband left in May and I am raising 4 kids. I need this more than I need anything so we can not only survive, but thrive as a family!

Best of luck to you all!!!!

You would think that raising 6 kids and taking Pathophysiology, while working 20 hours a week would keep my mind off of rejection/acceptance....but it doesn't.

Are you applying to a Bsn program? I wish I had the time management skills you obviously have to be able to juggle 6 kids and go to nursing school...

I have a daughter, I work 45+ hours a week, and and I think that is a lot, but u showed me wrong. Im still trying to get this organization thing right especially before I start this program....If I get in that is. I moved out of my paremnt's home in October since it was too stressful being there and doing school, and doing this thing on my own is hard....but at least I am finally able to dedicate my life to just my daughter and I , it was hard living for everybody else....slowly but surely I think I am getting it.

I'm in the waiting boat too! Ugh, I hate this waiting game. I've applied to 4 different ABSN programs, two instate and two out of state. I don't think I will hear back from any of them until the end of March or even into April :-( Keeping my fingers crossed!!

Keep the faith and stay upbeat and positive everyone!!! I applied Early Decision to my top choice ABSN program in November, and found out last month that I was accepted :-), but I've been where you guys are and can totally relate to the nervousness and anxiety. Positive thinking yields positive results! Best of luck to everyone!!

The program I originally applied for last spring, I did not get in to. So I took some time to consider all my options and work full time to ( try ) to save money. The school encouraged me to re apply and keep my application active. So this December I got a letter from them saying I was accepted and can start my clinical January 2014.This may sound like a long time to wait for some, and I can understand that. However this works out perfect for me, as I am taking Micro now, and will take stats and Chem over the summer, and then work full time in the fall to save money. It is funny how things fall into place, at the right time when you work hard. Best of luck to you all!
