I need some major advice. I am a complete wreck and I have 9 more weeks (actually it's 8 weeks and 6/7) until the letters are sent and I am freaking out. What if... I dont make it!!!!
Ok, so how do/did you wait without losing sleep, gaining 50 pounds and being a complete pain in the ***?
Hi everyone,Great advice on keeping busy productively. How about picking up part time work or working more to pay off some debt escpecially if they're credit card debt. I just got hit by my bank with an increase from 5.99 APR to 26% APR even though I've never been late or over the balance. :angryfire Their justifications were that I carried a high balance and was late in the past twelve months on a car payment. I think credit card companies are evil!!! So anyways, sorry to vent about my money problem, but while I'm waiting for the news from the colleges, I'm keeping up with my reading, organizing my house and am determined to pay off my bills before entering the nursing program. I'm sure it will be enough pressure without the extras. Good luck to you guys and I think its so neat to read all the stuff and bits and pieces of your personalities are coming through your many compassionate, insightful, and sometimes downright hilarious comments. :yelclap:
You're right - they're evil - and I think it's disgusting that they're allowed to change your rating with them BASED ON SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED WITH SOMEONE ELSE!!
That stinks.
Good suggestion and GOOD LUCK! I'm doing the same thing - I'm just cutting back on what I spend where and how much....if I could work extra I would!
Credit cards have the "right" to up your interest rate based on late payments to other carriers. It is in the actual "contract" which no one reads. I saw a special on it on PBS and it made me almost want to cut them up, except for the fact that I do a lot of interest shopping!! I pay most everything on line. It saves a stamp, a check, and it gets there right away.

Yep - I saw that too. I don't think it's right.
I too do everything online.
Hi guys,
Yes, Kathy and Pooh, you're both right about the very small, fine, microscopic print about the terms of the credit card. I always try to be careful with the finances but I guess when you're attending school full time and have to pay for everything that goes with it, you tend to not want to know the whole truth behind the sugar coated offer. Lesson learned. Also, thanks prmenrs for the list.

Enjoy yourself and think positive about getting in. Keep yourself occupied with things you like to do ( or need to do, if your like me, I get all non-school stuff done during break). When I worry, I redecorate a room in my house, it can be exercise, and will probably make you tired enough you won't lose any sleep at night.
i am also going crazy waiting for an admissions letter. the last day to apply was today and i heard that the admissions commitee is going to start mid- feb--- don't they know i am going crazy!!!!!! i started reading previous posts on how to wait patiently... not going well so far.
i propose a david letterman-type countdown:
10 things to do while waiting (un)patiently for *acceptance* letter
10. spend countless hours on allnurses.com longing looking for people who have already been admitted and/or those waiting for the letter.
if you have one... share! boy do i need help calming down!

Did you only apply to one school?? If so see what other schools are out there and apply to them. Don't put all your hopes into one school. My friend did that and it took her 3 years to get into the nursing school were she is now. I applied to 4 different schools this semester. Some are for RN and some are for LVN, the competition out there is very rough....make other plans while you wait. That will definitely keep you busy. I am taking a phlebotomy class to become certified. That way I can work in the medical field and see what it is that I am getting myself into. My goal is to become a nurse no matter how long it takes me. I am 22 years old no kids. Nothing is stopping me. But I can't wait around for one school to accept me, when there are only 50 seat available and 300 people have applied. Atlease when I become certified I can do somethings that a nurse can do which is draw blood. So explore other options while you wait.
i checked the school's website where i'm waiting to hear. they have posted the following:
[color=#006666]2006 absn applicants: admission
decisions will be mailed out by the
end of february/beginning of march
i think so many people must have called it was driving them nuts. the good news is i'm thinking the end of february. they probably just put march on there to cover themselves. so a few more weeks and i'll know.
good luck to everyone! nothing like waiting for that elusive letter. you want to think you're in but until you see it in black and white it just isn't real.
so... how are the rest of you doing? i have calmed down a bit. the advice on formulating a back-up plan was enough to settle me down for a while anyways. i'm not a nervous person, i just can't handle not knowing something this important. has anyone received their letter? make sure to let us all know. don't worry... when mine gets here... believe me... you'll know!!!:rotfl:
