Sorry to burst your bubble--cause I was in your "freak out" stage not too long ago--but there's really no help--unless you know the dictionary. Some of the words, you will know--others you've probaby never heard of and that includes the possible answers for the word you are trying to define. Try not to panic--I had a hard time with the words too. Guess the best you can. Prayers for you and your test!

I haven't taken the NLN, but I do know that knowledge of the origins of word units can help decipher meanings. I would study this:
http://www.wordinfo.info/words/index/info/list/A
This is a crash course in Latin and Greek word units.
Thanks JDLA!
I dont think I'll get the dictionary studied though in the next few hours! Lol!
Just curious, how did you study for that part? Did you study any vocab extra vocab?

I used the NLN book and then used to other books for some additional review and then I gave up. lol
JDLA is right. There are millions of words out there and we have no idea what will be on the test. I have studied some roots, etc. and I have a decent vocab so I am just going to do my best.
I am going to try and get through vocab quickly so I can concentrate more on the reading. Either I will know the word or I won't and I will try and guess from there. lol

Just use the "force". Trust me, you'll do just fine!
You guys are going to ace this! Trust me. Try not to go in nervous....relax and you will conquer this beast!:monkeydance:
I feel like I am going to barf. lol :wink2:
You will be fine! I promise.
It's not as bad as it seems. You really need to go in confident. I swear it does make all the difference.
Wake up early, have a good breakfast....get a nice latte or yummy coffee for the ride to your test and go in there ready to conquer the world.
You can and WILL do it!

Hahahaha! Im also taking the test tomorrow and I have a strange feeling we're taking it at the same place! Anyways, like everyone else did, I used the MacDonald book and its NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE to get all the right words!
Some tips people gave me before though are:
1) do GRE words (which are quite similar)
2. do word origins, and finally, if your pressed for time,
3) consult your thesaurus rather than your dictionary. The key is quantity OVER quality!
as for me, i have no idea if its going to work. But Im keeping a positive, confident outlook. Based on the MacDonald tests I've done I've improved an average of 2-3 more vocab points every time I test, learn a few words, test again, learn a few words.
Hope this helps if not you (since its too late for both of us... eeeek, tomorrows the big day!), then some sweet ol nurse-to-be lurking and reading the threads!
Good luck to us dear!
It's 9:45am right now and I'm sending you guys all of my kick a$$ vibes!!!
