Vision rescreen question- help!

Hey guys, I need some help! I started half way through the year and am doing hearing/vision rescreens. I have a first grader who was 20/20 20/50 at the beginning of the year, but I just rescreened him and he passed both. Is this a common scenario to fail and then pass? Student was not referred after first test, unsure why.

I do have quite a few kids who don't seem to have understood directions and pass a re-screen after doing poorly on the first screening. Or the KN's quite often can't stand still for the time it takes to screen, and do poorly. I have to do a lot of re-scheduling and re-screening on the littles.

There are several reason that would happen...hence the rescreen. We do mass screening with all the district nurses on one campus for that campus screening. Most of the failures pass when I rescreen them when I can take the individual time with them.

I always do a rescreen and wait until they fail twice before I make a referral.

I have them even on a high school level fail the first time. Especially if some on else is with in ear shot or watching. Will re-screen and they pass with flying colors.

DITTO the others about the re-screen. Sometimes I talk with the teacher as well if I am not really sure if the kid understands his letters or colors, especially with K-2 kids.

Sometimes the little kids are usually the ones that fail at first, but pass the second time, mostly either they are nervous or they just didn't quite understand the directions. That's why I do the rescreenings, if they fail again and I verify from the teacher that the student is having issues seeing the board, then I know something's up.
