VisaScreen vs. CES for Vermont International Nurse NCLEX pass endorsement application

Can anyone help me? i intend to get licensed in Vermont since the California BRN has already issued a statement that they will no longer extend validities of pass letters effective, if i'm not mistaken, april 10 or 30, 2010...

i'm wondering, since i already have a VisaScreen certificate, do i need to apply for a CES again?... the process seem redundant since the CES will be requiring me to submit credentials which are exactly the same as the ones required for my VisaScreen...

i just want to know if anyone has been in the same situation and what they did... and how long did it take to get licensed in Vermont?... :confused:although i totally get the California BRN's move, i still would not want to have my NCLEX go to waste... :crying2:

pleeease help anyone?

thank you!

oh sorry, my reply was for Astromikaelo's post which seems to be missing in this thread...

hello.. thank you for your reply. I guess one of the staff deleted my post here coz i have posted the same msg. in another related thread. but thank you, i appreciate it.

i have another question, does visascreen renewal require another valid IELTS result, like for an instance, after 5 years of having the VS cert. and I need to renew it but my my IELTS has already expired, will there be a need for me to retake the exam or CGFNS will still consider my previous one?

Yes, if your IELTS has expired you need to renew it when renewing vsc

Hello everyone!

Like the others, I'm still working on my NCLEX exam result endorsement from California to Vermont. I've already submitted my letter to CA-BON requesting for my Candidate Report. However, my My NCLEX-RN result will expire this October. What will happen if by October, my CES report had not been submitted to Vermont BON? CGFNS is requiring me to submit a form to my nursing school, and another form to the Professional Regulation Commission (my initial nursing registration - Philippines), and then to An Bord Altranais (Ireland) for my current nursing registration. Will I still be able to gain Vermont registration even if my NCLEX will expire in October since I've already requested for my Candidate report?

how long does it take for CGFNS to process and finalized the CES report if they have utilized the requirements I have sent for visa screen?

Hi!

My friend just endorsed from CA to Vermont due to the SSN issues in California. She received her license from vermont today but it states there that it will expire March 2011. Why is that? I thought the license is renewable every 2 years?

I'm also in the process of endorsing to Vermont. I sent them my application along with the other requirements last week. My friend, sent her application to Vermont July 2010.

hello chinita... unfortunately, many of us misunderstood the every 2 years renewal thing... apparently it means they only have renewal periods set every two years... so it doesn't matter when you received your license, renewals are made on a two-year cycle by all licensed RNs in vermont and the last renewal period was march 2009... therefore the next one will be on march 2011, then 2013 so on and so forth... it's another 95$ on us :crying2:

i suggest if your pass letter from cali will expire way after march 2011 that you start your endorsement at around feb 2011 to save you some money... but these rules change without notice so it still is your prerogative really :)

how long did it take for your friend to receive her license from vermont by mail? i was issued a license last aug 9 and i still haven't got my hard copy...

goodluck!

Hey, I have a question about what you mean when you say

"since the California BRN has already issued a statement that they will no longer extend validities of pass letters effective, if i'm not mistaken, april 10 or 30, 2010.."

What does this mean?

Unfortunately, mine will expire January 2011. I already sent my application to Vermont so there's no turning back. My friend asked me if the actual license is the paper that vermont sent to her. I have no idea what Vermont's license look like.

"since the California BRN has already issued a statement that they will no longer extend validities of pass letters effective, if i'm not mistaken, april 10 or 30, 2010.."

What does this mean?

this means that all NCLEX passers through the state of california who received their pass letters informing them that they must submit their SSN within three years from the date the letter (referred to as 'pass letter') was generated is no longer extended as was the practice prior to april 10, 2010... the BRN of california will issue the USRN license only when the candidate has submitted a valid SSN... due to the retrogression, obtaining a visa is taking longer than usual, that is, longer than the three-year expiration set in the letter... those affected by the retrogression used to write the BRN prior to the expiration of their pass letter to have theirs extended... the BRN then extend it for another year, and another and another...

as of april 10 of this year, the BRN of california has issued a statement that they will no longer extend the validity of pass letters, meaning if you do not submit an SSN on or before your pass letter expires, they will deem your application inactive and have your files with them destroyed...

Ok, so since I already have a SSN I will be able to receive my CA license? Do I have to wait to submit my paperwork for the Visa Screen Certificate until I pass the NCLEX? Also, I'm taking my NCLEX through MN and then endorsing it to CA...do I have to wait to receive my CA license number before submitting the paperwork or does it not matter if I use MN or CA license number (stupid question: your license number changes when you endorse it to another state right?!) Thanks so much for your help!!!
