  1. BTW, just to make sure everything is correct.... the recipient for the CES report is "Texas Board of Nurse Examiners", is that correct? And it's the Professional report because they won't allow you for the Academic report?
  2. Thanks mharic09! I just started now my husband's CGFNS application. How long in total did it take from the time you applied online for CG CES to the time the report was issued? BTW, you're right about the jurisprudence exam. Good thing you can take that on your own time, in your own place. No pressure! I had that as well before I got licensed here.
  3. Hello fellow Filipino nurses... My husband and I are both Filipino nurses living now in Texas (both of us are Green Card holders). My husband plans to take NCLEX-RN here in Texas. Will there be a possibility that once we've applied to CGFNS for his CES, CGFNS will require him to take the CGFNS exam? Will he be required to take the English exam as well? Has anyone experienced this?
  4. Hello everyone! Like the others, I'm still working on my NCLEX exam result endorsement from California to Vermont. I've already submitted my letter to CA-BON requesting for my Candidate Report. However, my My NCLEX-RN result will expire this October. What will happen if by October, my CES report had not been submitted to Vermont BON? CGFNS is requiring me to submit a form to my nursing school, and another form to the Professional Regulation Commission (my initial nursing registration - Philippines), and then to An Bord Altranais (Ireland) for my current nursing registration. Will I still be able to gain Vermont registration even if my NCLEX will expire in October since I've already requested for my Candidate report?
  5. Hi! Have you tried visiting their website? Just in case no, here is the link - http://www.nursingboard.ie/en/homepage.aspx Most Filipino nurses in Ireland were under recruitment agencies before. However, since Ireland is experiencing recession as of the moment, I am not sure if you can still find Philippine recruitment agencies scouting nurses for Ireland. ABA's requirements are not that hard to follow. You only need to have the application form. Form A should be filled out by the applicant; Form B to be completed by your nursing school, & TOR should also be sent directly by the school; Form C by the PRC. Together with Form A, you should also submit the necessary notarized documents. If you request for the application form, a guideline is included for the applicant to follow, and that includes what documents should be sent. But since you are outside Ireland, I am not sure how you can secure an application form. Well, you can try to email them to request for an overseas nurse application pack, or maybe try calling them to inquire. But most of the time, they don't immediately reply to emails. Additionally, you also need to pass IELTS or TOEFL (see ABA's website for their required score).
  6. Thanks very much!!!
  7. Thank you for your immediate reply. I've actually received an email offer from this agency and that made me more curious about applying in Bermuda. Right now I've been searching about other agencies that can help me or provide me with more infos regarding nursing in Bermuda.
  8. Hello everyone! I would like to know the process of nursing registration in Bermuda. Aside from IELTS, is TOEFL also accepted as part of their English requirement?
  9. What made you finally say that..."Hey I do not belong here. OR is not my place". I am still a probationary nurse in the OR, and after spending few months here, I'm thinking that I am more on bedside nursing. I can compare my work, as well as my performance, because during my 3-month training in my hospital now before I was hired, was totally on bedside nursing(Med/Surg floors). My first month of probation was also on bedside nursing & it was on the 2nd month when the nursing service dept transferred me to OR. Right now, I'm still deciding whether or not to transfer. Just want to hear you own personal experiences. Thanks!!!
  10. I can relate on that. I also felt that during my training in my hospital a couple of months ago. & actually I am feeling that until now, I was just transferred to the OR almost 3 months ago. Hope we could adjust well as new nurses...adjust to the environment & most esp. to our workmates.
  11. Congratulations!!!!! I feel happy for you! It's like getting a fishbone out of your throat!!! Enjoy life!!
  12. Hello co-nurses! I am just curious about your different experiences as an OR nurse especially on your very first year in OR. I am almost on my 3rd month in OR right now, & I want your experiences/stories to inspire me & the other new nurses out there!thanx so much!!!! OR is really really challenging! In fact, I find myself anxious before going to the hospital everyday!
  13. Being an OR nurse is very very challenging! Well, I've only been here for only almost 2 months now, & I find it really challenging! I need your help of any good OR book for us nurses to read. I want to enhance my compency. It's hard to be a newbie in any situation. Hope you could recommend me any book. Thanx!!!!
  14. As I've observed during my college years of OR exposure, and now that I am a new OR nurse, is seniority among nurses really a big deal? I know that due respect should be given to your seniors but of course in return they have to let the new ones feel comfortable of this new environment that they have. Because of this, I am starting to think if I've made the right decision of accepting the offer given to me to be transferred in the OR and leave my previous area as an MS nurse (bedside nurse). Do you also have experiences like this? This is a big question in my mind...why is seniority a big deal. This might lead to somewhat a friction between old against new nurses.
  15. Everything in this thread is really so helpful! I am also a newbie in the OR. In fact, I just only finished my first week!!Yes, my very first week!! I was a bedside nurse before I was transferred to the operating room of the same hospital. Like her, I am really feeling so nervous now & overwhelmed..overwhelmed of the environment itself, my co-nurses, my superiors, & the doctors!! Most of my workmates are giving a big deal on superiority! And this is a one big factor why I am also thinking now if I've had made the right decision of accepting the offer being transferred to this special area?? This is really a big challenge!! Hope I can overcome it!
