Hi! I'm from the Philippines and I have pending application in CARNA.
I've already received a letter from them and they advised me to take an English exam and the SEC Assessment. Ive already met their English requirement. For the SEC, I need to apply for a VISA first before I could register.
Can someone advise me on what type of VISA should I apply for? I'm planning to get a tourist VISA and if so, will it be enough to present the CARNA letter? How much do I need for the "show" money/assets? Will I still be needing lots of money if my relatives in Calgary will be paying for the expenses?
Thanks and hope to hear from anyone soon..:nuke:
If you can't satisfactorily prove your intent to return home upon completion of your SEC, it's quite likely that Immigration will refuse you a tourist visa. And as was mentioned on another thread, having a family member invitation may be a drawback as it may be perceived that you'll overstay your visa because you've got family here. Really all you can do is submit your application and hope for the best.
I've sbmitted my TRV (tourist) application just this June 10. Still waiting...and it's actually day 5 already, and tomorrow day 6, and I hope it won't return any time soon, bec. that will mean only one thing...and it's not good.
Proof?
If you really want to convince an officer you'll come back you really have to have work here in the Philippines (or where ever you live) plus your employer must give you a letter of approved leave, so that the consul/embassy officer will surely be convinced that you'll return.
Other than that, you have to have a family here. For those without wives, and children..and only parents and siblings, that would be pretty hard, especially if you're already in the young adulthood stage because Come on, young adults want to be away from their family, (well at least some do) so that's the reason why alot of single status applicants are denied. (especially if they are nurses)
ANother proof is yes, MONEY! Assessts the better! The bigger the better, because the more you have reason to come back here.
Well, I think those are the major factors that they consider, but hey you never know, some people are just darn lucky despite the fact that they have none of those I said above. But always keep in mind, the more evidence you provide, the greater chances of getting a visa.
yes, i have relatives in canada (grandmother, uncle, aunties and cousins)...i was not working when i applied, reviewed for ielts and applied soon as i passed the said exam. i don't know about their policies, maybe they need proof of assets like bank accounts, properties, etc. But, I heard a lot of people got denied eventhough they have assets to show. What's worse is that you can't even talk face-to-face with a consul to ask for explanation. They'll just send back your papers and the letter, which somewhat looks like a checklist on why they're denying your application (signed without the printed name of the officer).
Hello yangski,
I hope you don't mind me asking, how long did it take for you to get back your application? Did it take 10-15days before you got everything back? Or was it shorter?
Thank you.
hi everyone!
i had the same problem.
i applied for a TRV last Nov. and my aplic. was returned right away.
i got a refusal letter that said i didnt satisfied an officer that im goin to leave canada etc...
i didn't include assets though. and i already resigned from my job.
my parents and 2 lil sisters are currently living in BC however, they havent applied for a permanent residency yet.
So i was really discouraged.
i am not giving up. i will try to apply again, now with a multiple entry status but i know there is no guarantee..:-(
i'm anxious about my situation. i am scheduled for SEC assmnt this April 14-15.
i'm just so glad ive found people having same interests and queries as mine..
God bless us all!
hi swirpink,
I had applied for a temporary resident visa to canada twice but was denied. From then on, I removed the plans in going to Canada from my head temporarily. Right now, I decided to apply as a nurse in New Zealand coz you can get a permanent residency in just 6 to 12 months once you get there. And when you are an immigrant in New Zealand, you can easily apply to other big countries such as Canada. It is a stepping stone. Why not try NZ first before proceeding to Canada. Becoming a nurse in Canada is more stricter these days than before. I surely regretted that I haven't applied as early as 2007 wherein there was still no SEC assessment. I started applying at CRNBC and CARNA (Alberta) way back 2008 and they all assessed that I needed to take an SEC assessment. Last January 2009, I took that chance of applying at SRNA (Saskatchewan) but up until now they still haven't assessed my papers and it's been a year now. I was disheartened by these facts, so it's better quitting my plans to work in Canada temporarily. Hope these helps.
You really don't want to let the people in NZ that you're planning to work with know that you're using them as a stepping stone. It's the height of insults to know that someone you're spending a lot of time and energy orienting to your workplace has no intention of staying for more than the time it takes to get into something "better".

Wow, just wow.
And I suppose Canada is just your stepping stone to the US?

Another comment...
Having worked as a nurse in NZ isn't going to eliminate your requirement to undergo SEC. Your basic nursing education will still be exactly the same, no matter where you apply from in the future. Don't pin any hopes on Saskatchewan letting you squeak past the SEC either, because they've also instituted SEC as a screening tool. As well, they're slowing down their offshore recruitment as the fallout from Alberta's cutbacks have provided them with a large number of Canadians wanting work.

hello...i just want to ask... Did you select single entry visa or multiple entry visa for applic. Of temp. Resi visa (tourist visa) ?
Do we need to include/state all siblings in completing the application docs? I'm single and don't have children as well. I also want to know, if my mother will accompany me, should she apply separately?
If given the chance to be eligible in TAKING crne, I'd like to enroll in a review center in manitoba before taking the exam. I plan to choose multiple entry because what if i fail, i could come back in Manitoba to retake the exam.
How's your application for temp res visa?
God bless!
