Hi Everyone. I wanted to create a thread for the vcu CRNA 2023. Has anyone submitted their application yet ?

I don’t think that that matters. They did away with it as a requirement and that started with our applications.

I think every little thing matters. They also don’t require CCRN but I bet everybody has it.

Those who got interviews, could you give us any advice or tips that you think helped you get the interview?

Well then I suppose we can just move forward with the next round of applications since this one has passed. Dwelling doesn’t help. Just move forward ?

Yeah I have a very strong application too, high GPA, ccrn, great experience, masters with a 3.9. I never think I’ll definitely get in somewhere, but I’m honestly a little surprised about being rejected for an interview. Not really sure how much better you can get on paper. (I’m not trying to brag at all, I know it’s a competitive pool and those who got interviews probably have equally good or better stats.)

On to the next.

Just got an email about interview dates! Looks like we will have 5 days to complete it, starting June 7th. Honestly it doesn’t look like a terrible interview- just 4 questions. Good luck everyone!

Do you think they are still sending out decisions? I still haven’t received any kind of email.

I like that they give us such a big window to complete it. Somehow the idea of only having four questions stresses me out more haha but at least I have some time to get my nerves in check ?. Good luck everybody!

Praying they send out more emails today about decisions. Post on here if y’all hear anything! I feel like I’m waiting for an email that’s never going to come at this point…?

Hoping for you! It seems like they have just been really delayed this year and their responses have been staggered in terms of interview decisions.

I don’t have stats as great as yours and was invited for an interview. I personally think a strong why for your personal statement, outside activities and hobbies, and enthusiastic letters of recommendation can help. I only have 3.49 GPA, CCRN and teach classes at my hospital. A strong why for your personal statement will help you get through the gambit of CRNA school while showing your personality. Outside activities will show you’re a well rounded individual. I personally think you’re an excellent candidate but try to show your more than just a high GPA and I’m sure you will get an interview somewhere. Also you mentioned you definitely think you won’t get in somewhere. You must believe in yourself because CRNA school is hell. I have no idea who you are but you can be an excellent CRNA in your future. Let your No’s fuel you to come back better and stronger until you get your yes

yup this is me to a T and I got invited for an interview as well. question for you…are you going to touch on the lower GPA during the interview? I’m contemplating whether or not I should mention it cause if they invited us to interview clearly they’re okay with it

I think you have a fair point. Personally, for me, I feel like I went wrong with my personal statement. Looking back now, I feel like I babbled and maybe somewhat over-enthusiastic. Lesson learned ? I will definitely work on a better personal statement for the next round, and be more picky before submitting it.

I will not touch on this. I have been accepted already into another program and had a zoom interview two weeks ago. The fact that they invited you for an interview shows they really like you already. I think over 300 people applied for the cohort. Please be yourself and show your personality. Answer questions to the best of your knowledge and show you can think on your feet. I knew all the answers to my previous interview but if you don’t know just say so. This shows that your willing to accept your flaws, are honest, and willing to research the answer and get back to them about it. This advice helped me gain acceptance to a program already. You’re more than just GPA
