Hey guys, i took my exam yesterday and stopped at 205 and tried the trick says on HOLD. By the way when i was on break i had to call my work to tell them i won't be able to make it at 10 to pick up my patient, i was in the restroom one of the staff caught me and told me that he had to report what he saw, i told him that i didnt know i just assume that you can't use your phone during examination and inside the test room, and then he told me that he will see what will the board say if you have to be sent home or continue, and i told him that it was my job and he was like oh ok but then he said i still have to report it you still can take your test and we will let you know if you have to be sent home...., But i am still worried because i saw someones post that she was also got caught and had the same results on hold and then she got a letter from pearsonvue that she violated the law..... IM SCARED guys i stuided 24.7 for that test.. i just had to let it out and tell everybody whats going on...;(
This is just something that is bugging me but how did you make a phone call? Don't they lock all your stuff up in a locker (maybe that's just my state)?
Writing a letter is a good idea, along with a letter from your client. I would hope they wouldn't hold your records for a year, that seems so extreme!
Thanks for your concern lauren, to be honest i wasnt aware of the rules when they gave us the paper, i didn't read it all i was walking around due to anxiet thinking about my reviews and whhat will come up on the test and wanted to take it so bad because i had to pick up my patient after 10, it was already 1130 i had to go down to get the phone in my car and make a phone call to my friend to pick him up i gave him the address and everything, i left my phone in my car purpose cz i know that u cant use it inside but id idnt know u cant use it at all even during breaks..but i want to show them my txt msg that my patient txted me at 930 to pick him up.
I had to get someone to pick my patient because my patients parents are already getting mad at me since ive been calling off to work to study and i needed to make sure i pass, das why i don't want them to get mad at me anymore..thats the story, if they keep me off for 1 year or never, i guess i'll be a care giver for long time or go back to school again which it wudnt require to test at pearsonvue.
I'm surprised they didn't make the phone call policy VERY clear from the get go.. Even for the TEAS V, they locked my stuff up in a locker for the duration. We were required to turn OFF our phones beforehand. They went over the rules and made me sign a form. I'm shocked NCLEX wouldn't have an even stricter policy. Hell, even the GED is locked down like Ft. Knox when you take it.
I hope this gets worked out for you.
Even though you meant no ill or dishonesty, the fact is that you did violate the rules regarding phone use. I'm sorry that your lapse put you in this position.
Unfortunately the people at NCLEX have to be convinced that you meant no ill or dishonesty, and they tend to err on the side of thinking the worst. All you can do is explain your side of things, present any supporting evidence, and hope for best.
I hope it works out for you soon and that you have an answer either way, so you can more on.
Thank you guys for your reply's you are right meriwhen i can't deny or say no that i didn't use the phone,i was just on anxiety stage where i need to pass the test and the same time keep my job while waiting for the license, Im just hoping that they will release my results if they believe me but i know for a fact first thing they will do is suspend me for long time..It's just hard that they have the power over you..thank u guys for reading my post.Just sitting here waiting for that paper to come..
Sorry, but you should have known better than to use your phone. It's written in the instructions that our have to read before taking the test. It's also pretty common sense. Phones are commonly used for cheating. Were you allowed to make phone calls during tests in nursing school? No. Sorry to be harsh but if you're old enough to have graduated and about to be a nurse, it's time you learned to think ahead and take responsibility for your actions. You can't claim "I didn't know" when you've made a mistake that hurt a patient.
You should have notified you employer ahead of time that you wouldn't be there. You should have anticipated that taking the NCLEX would take several hours and arranged to have the day off work. Calling out of work last minute wasn't the most professional move either.
Bottom line is you broke the NCLEX rules. Pearson VUE is very strict about cheating and they dont care what your excuse was. You could have been calling a friend for information or searching the Internet. Writing a letter won't help you. They will probably fail you under suspicion of cheating. You'll have learned a very valuable lesson for next time.
I would keep that in mind I know it won't help writing a letter because in that case everyone would just use the phone, And if they get caught they'll just write a letter, I have no excuse but to accept what ever they decide. I was just having anxiet on that day since it was my first time taking test that time, and bad things do happen in life, but thanks for the reply...

It's pretty obvious regarding the cell phones usage during exams. It's also common sence not to use it during an exam even though you're taking a break. I can certainly see how it slipped your mind as you had the exam and your job in your mind at the sametime. Maybe you can get your work to write a letter stating that you did make the call to them letting them know that you would be late might help. Good Luck
