Take it on

“portage learning “ (Google it )  it’s through Geneva college and all online and cheaper than any community college and still approved by Villanova. It’s like 700$ or something like that and that’s including the study material

it’s a online start when you want and finish when you can. I finished the class in 3 weeks

thank me later LOL

Did you feel like it taught you everything pretty well? Like since Patho is such an important course, do you think it prepared you well for later? And I saw that Anatomy & Physiology are pre-requisites for the course on Portage and I’m taking Physiology right now. Do I have to wait until my grades are in before I can register and start? And how do I prove that I took the classes before, send Portage my unofficial transcripts?

They say it’s a pre req but it’s not really LOL . Like you can start the course today if you want with no handing in grades from previous courses or etc. and the class is basically what you make of it, you can cheat but you won’t learn anything or you can actually learn what you need to learn and take your time since the course is based on YOUR TIMING.

I 100% recommend portage as a great and quick alternative for knocking out your pre-reqs. I was in the same boat trying to take Pathophysiology at DCCC but would’ve had to pay way more than needed due the the fact that it was a 4 credit course with lab  . I am currently taking patho through portage  and it’s a breeze ! Love that I can go at my own pace and really digest the material . They also include lecture videos with each module to further explain material .  If I had known about it earlier I would’ve taken most of my pre-reqs through them .

I plan to take pathophys at Nova because I listened to the virtual orientation and the current students were on there and said how the professor for pathophys is incredible and her class really helps set you up for success for the program! Although the lady I interviewed with did say we could take Pharm through Portage before the program starts which could help too!

So there’s no due dates with portage? We watch lectures and take lectures whenever we want until we’re done?

Nope . No due dates , you just go at your own pace . There is a set of around 35-40 questions at the end of each module that help you prepare and give you an idea of what to expect for each exam .

You actually have 1 year from when you initially register for a course complete it. Also if you have any questions or concerns about the course material , you can reach out the Professor via email or make an appointment for a web chat .

Are they more video/lecture based or reading based? I honestly prefer having someone talk/actually teach me, even if it’s a prerecorded video, instead of simply reading a textbook.

Both . Each section has video lecture included . So what I do is just watch the video lecture , then I read text .

I’m pretty sure it’s a video on the portage website to show you how everything is done.

I highly recommend PL.. I'm currently taking Microbiology. The information is very concise, as in you're given what you will be tested on and therefore it is very straightforward. I've found it helpful in developing my own study technique since it really is all up to you and the energy you put in. It gives you the time to understand the material on a deeper level rather than just memorizing and brain dumping, LOL! I'm not sure if I'm going to take Patho with PL or Villanova. I've heard great things about Villanova's professor for Patho. If you need any outside sources for any material during any of your courses, Registered Nurse RN on Youtube is a fantastic resource. Her videos helped me a lot with A&P. She also covers Patho and Pharm. Her website has quizzes so you can test yourself on the material as well.
