Villanova BSN Express Spring 2015

Published

Hi, my name is Mike. I'm opening this thread to connect with other people who are applying or have been accepted to the BSNExpress program at Villanova for Spring 2015. Feel free to share any thoughts and suggestions you might have and to ask questions. Hopefully this forum can serve as a way for us to get to know each other a bit prior to the start of the program.

Letters were sent to the wrong address!! The department was nice enough to scan and email them to me instead and I got in!! Cannot wait to meet you all. Also, if anyone is looking for housing, I live in an apartment complex right down the street from Nova that is affordable, 24 hour security, and has a pool :]

Still 'under review,' but my interview feedback got posted and it's super excellent, so fingers are still crossed! I started looking at housing in the area and one bedrooms seem super expensive ($1200). It's probably way early, but I need to do something to assuage my nervous energy.

If I get in, I'm going to be looking for 1-2 roommate(s) for a 2 or 3 bedroom. I'm looking to spend in the range of $650-800, within 30 minutes of campus. I have a 2 year old cat who likes people but not other animals (she was attacked by a neighbor's dog who ran into our house and is now scared of other animals). I'm 27, female, non-smoker, like to cook, occasionally have a couple friends over but no crazy parties. I have a car and would def. be willing to ridegroup to classes and clinicals if possible. I have a good amount of furniture/ kitchen stuff because I currently live alone, but would be willing to store some if you have a lot of stuff too, esp if we can find a place that has storage. I'm looking for 1-2 roommates who non-smokers, any gender and orientations, ages 22-40, who are not allergic to my cat but don't have pets of their own, and who are interested in a mutually respectful apartment or houseshare. Also must not judge Saturday afternoon cleaning/dance parties to 90's pop. ;) Anyone else looking for similar?

Congrats tocana!!

@lisa 1200 is a bit expensive, try looking around Conshohocken and Manayunk/Roxoborough. My place in Manayunk is a two bedroom with basement, garage, and backyard and we pay around that much. Especially with it car it doesn't take too long to get to Villanova.

I haven't heard back either and had my interview last week, but hope to hear back soon! I think the person who interviewed me said they would let me know by the end of November. @lisa15307, where did you get the interview feedback? I think mine went pretty well, but who knows!

Italopdx, when you go online to the application portal to check on transcripts, essay, payment, etc, the line item for 'Interview' will have a paragraph of feedback. It's written for the decision committee, but it's also helpful to know where you stand during this waiting period. That said, I haven't heard anyone else mention the feedback, so maybe it was just my interviewer who uploaded it there?

Thanks for the neighborhood tips Sweetum! It definitely looks like those areas are more affordable than Bryn Mwar where I was mostly looking.

lisa15307 that is interesting that you have interview feedback, mine never did. Good luck to you both!

I just got my letter yesterday allowing me to start the program over again in May 2015. I was dropped from the 2014 cohort because I dropped an exam below 70%. Villanova has a wonderful program, the summer session was easy, but when we started MedSurg "Oh Boy" it got difficult. If any of you guy's have any questions for me seeing as though I have already been in the program, I will try and give you some insight on what to look for and or expect, Congratulations All !!!

JoeJoe3 congrats! I'm not going to lie you have made me a bit nervous about this now. When you say you had an exam below 70%, do you mean a final exam? Are there multiple exams during that specific class and you have to have 70+ on all? Could you be a little more specific? Thanks!

I have a friend who was in the program last year, and one who is in it this year. When I asked, the one said that if you get below a 73% in a class, you are dropped from the program, not PER EXAM.

tocana01 that makes me feel MUCH better lol!

Yea that's what I understood, pretty much 70 is passing for the class, not for each test. Though if you got 70s on every test then you're probably not going to pass.

Hey guys I know this was mentioned before, but would anyone who was accepted mind saying how much the deposit to hold your seat was? I can't find it in the thread because it has gotten so long! ;) haha sorry I am getting anxious!! Thanks!
