Villanova BSN Express Spring 2015
Congrats! If you haven't yet, check the Facebook page, people have been posting there the last few weeks. I'm sure you can also check the website to see, many of the community colleges have it available.

Thanks RNL0VE! I did see that it was an option. That's awesome that it can be done in 6 weeks! That would be perfect so I can get a part time job to help pay for supplies and more

Villanova BSN Express Spring 2015
Ugh @lisa I have transcripts from 4 different places as well and I may have to find somewhere else to take nutrition. It's a huge hassle getting them all together Hope you and KAB hear good news!

^^Wow your previous career sounds amazing! That's quite a change. Thanks for sharing your experience. I can definitely attest to becoming comfortable because something seems easy initially. I nearly failed one of my master's classes because of it. When I say I literally passed by the skin of my teeth...lesson learned there! Now I'm much more vigilant about that.

JoeJoe3 I think you're saying the same thing that everyone else is saying. If you have three exams in a class, it's important to pass with above a 73 for each test in order to pass the course overall. Like someone pointed out, it states that pretty clearly in the student manual that's on the website. Sorry you did not succeed in the program but I'm glad you're getting another chance. Do you think you really want to do nursing? I'm asking because the way you describe it, it sounds like you did not enjoy it very much. I think there's a reason why they teach you to change bedpans, as annoying as it may be, because you will probably have to do it at some point. Just from going through the articles on this website, you'll see very quickly that no one is above doing a certain thing, and that regardless if you're a doctor or LPN, you may have to change diapers or bed pans for a patient. I think if you go in expecting that you may have to do 'menial' stuff along with passing your classes you will have an easier time.

Yea that's what I understood, pretty much 70 is passing for the class, not for each test. Though if you got 70s on every test then you're probably not going to pass.

Congrats tocana!! @lisa 1200 is a bit expensive, try looking around Conshohocken and Manayunk/Roxoborough. My place in Manayunk is a two bedroom with basement, garage, and backyard and we pay around that much. Especially with it car it doesn't take too long to get to Villanova.

^^^Yes it is! I was floored when I saw that. It's weird also because when I was deciding where to apply Pen's website did not grab me as much as Villanova. The general consensus that I've heard is that Penn's premium is wayyyy more than it's worth. I also worked at CHOP a few years ago, and was there over the summer working with a fellow on my thesis. What department are you in? I was at 3535.

@lisa15307 That's good to know. I still have to take nutrition so I'll see what's available. I agree with Villanova being a great value. Check out how much Penn charges for the same amount of time, it's ridiculous! FYI tocana, gerrly, and warriortac, I think my letter was dated Oct.1 and arrived on Oct. 4 and I'm in Philly. I think mail goes out in batches so hopefully by tomorrow/Sat it should arrive. Sending good luck vibes! JoeJoe3, I read that they put you on probation after you fail a class and dismiss you if your GPA drops below a certain point. Are you saying you failed one test and they dismissed you? Also, any reason why you started two other threads with that same comment?

Honestly I wasn't interested in it to begin with so it definitely wasn't a career for me... it was a I just lost my job- can't find a new one- have no idea what to do with my life thing LOL. I've always been interested in patient care but wasn't sure whether medicine or something else. I initially planned on just doing one year but ended up doing the second to have something to do, so I wasn't going because I was interested in working in the field. Now that I've done it, it will definitely be super helpful in nursing!

Gerrly my master's is in biomedical sciences, with a forensics concentration from PCOM. I went to University of Rochester for undergrad. Definitely send a course description for the pathology requirement. I initially thought I would have to take it but my pathology for forensic medicine course was accepted.
