Hi yall! I am preparing for nursing school and researching stethescope options. I was looking at the Littman Classic 3-however what do you all suggest for a new nursing student? I wasn't sure if Littman was where I should start.

Thanks so much!

My first stethoscope was functional and cheap. I wasn't looking for a brand name like Littman. Whatever did the job for the least amount of money.

Sprague did the job for me for a decade.

I recommend the Sprague-Rappoport type for new students as you can change it to a pediatric scope & also change the bell & diaphragm. It can cost as little as $15.00. I taught physical assessment for 5 years and IMO, students do not need a fancy Littman & definitely not a cardiac scope. Wait until graduation to but those. While in clinicals, ask the nurses about their stethoscope choices.

I have found that the Littman's are great stethoscopes. I find that you can hear much better with these. I would say go with the Littman instead of a cheapie one.
