Vermont Application

Published

Hi,

Does anyone here knows the step by step procedure to file for VERMONT-BON? I downloaded the application, it's only 4 pages. Is that really it? Will they not they require transcript from your nursing school especially for foreign grad?

How about the time frame for processing? Is it possible to get your license without SSN?

Has anyone undergone through endorsement from vermont to other state? is it easy?

thanks in advance!

hello guys..i have a follow up question regarding the 4th page of vermont application. "No" should be answered in the 1st question beacuse i am single but it says there that if you answered no proceed to question number 3 which states, "i am in good standing to or in full compliance with a plan to pay any and all unemployment contributions due to the State of Vermont."

If i answer "yes" it says there for me to complete the renewal, if "no", i must contact the office.

since i am still single, should i answer that or just leave it blank?

pls anybody?? thanks in advance.. God bless

hi, im new here and i've notice that you got vast knowledge when it comes to nclex. i got questions too regarding my application in nclex. I choose vermont as my BON for my licensure and i filled my aplication as of April 10, 2008. As of the moment im waiting for my eligibility, can I register to pearson vue even though im not eligible yet? and how will i know that im already eligible? will Vermont send a letter(snailmail)/email to me saying that i can now register to pearson vue?

lastly, is it true that there are no more available slots for the whole year 2008 for scheduling for nclex? how true is it? and waht can u say about merge review center, im tking my review there!

thanks!!! waiting for your kind response thanks again.

You have not submitted anything for the NCLEX exam as there is no applicaiton for that, you are applying for licensure to the BON that you have selected. You applied thru VT for licensure and the average wait time to get approval is about four months now, so you have another two months or so to wait. It is never recommended to register with Pearson-Vue as a foreign trained nurse until you have received approval of your credentials by the BON.

VT will notify you when you have been granted permission to be able to write the exam.

That is just a rumor that there are no more slots for this year. And only a rumor at best. Most ATTs are only valid for a three month window, so impossible that all slots are taken for the next 6 months or so, plus there are always cancellations opening up in the Makati testing center.

Cannot say a thing about that review center since I have never heard of them before, but if you have already signed with them, this is not the time to be asking. I personally do not like one of them that operate out of there, most of the instructors have no experience working as an RN in either your country or the US. Would find out what their actual pass rate is for the exams that they are helping with.

thanks for the prompt reply susanne, i really appreciate it. yes you are right its not time to ask such question ryt now considering i already pay for the whole amount of the review. can u give me some tips regarding what text books are best for review, i have a kaplan book here and saunders.

Please check out the NCLEX Forum that can be found under the student tab. That is where we request that any questions pertaining to preparing for the exam be posted.

You will find many threads there that will be helpful to you.

the makati testing center is always open i have check it always since my sister will be taking a nclex a lot of slots available till december.

Sorry, but there is more to the exam than med-surg topics and since the second courser programs just started a few years ago and they are already back in your country not working in the US, that leaves things wide open for speculation. And unfortunately, have seen quite a few MD-RNs, as well as RN -MDs that have not been successful in this country and ultimately returned home.

Whether RN-MD or the other way around, why were they not practicing in the field that they trained in but were in a review center? That says alot right there to me, and I am sure most others here as well.

you're right suzanne...there's more to the nclex than med surg...i jst based that opinion on my own experience when i sat for it...i stopped at item 75...jst had 2 questions on Maternal and child, 1 question on psychia..the rest med surg...the items could have been spread out i think had I reached the 265 item max.

The med surg instructor I was talking about went to the US in the early 90's and worked there for sometime as an RN, I suspect to save, so he can come home and complete his medical degree...placed 12th on the medical board yet never was a placer in the '92 NLE(any MERGE Baby reading this will recognize this fella immidiately heheh) he says he's only worked a few years here in the phils as an MD..as to why he's in a review center now i can only speculate that he earns more..anyhow, i'm glad i sat through his discussions...realy helped boost my confidence :yeah::yeah::yeah:

Just giving a friendly reminder to stay within the topic. Thanks.

Hi, pls help! I am a nurse from the Philippines and have already passed NCLEX-RN in California however due to SSN issues I am now trying to endorse to Vermont, of which, based on their website is possible. I've passed all the requrements incuding VT-specific CES report and the candidate report from Cal. The BIG problem now is they are denying the application for the reason that my CES report shows that I only have 18 hours of Psychiatric Mental Health lecture hours but VT is requiring atleast 30hours! I couldn't believe the result of my ces report. If I am not mistaken, the Psychiatric/Mental Health is incorporated in our Curative and Rehabilitative Health which comprises the 8 units of the curriculum. This subject includes a formal lecture andrelated learning experience. Besides, as far as I know, the curriculum is uniform for BS Nursing in the Philippines for it is CHED which approves it. I am really confused. Do I need to contact CGFNS for possible errors in the documents submittted? Am I the first one to apply for VT-specific ces report from the Phils? What should I do to verify my ces report? thanks.

Do you have a copy of the academic verification form that was sent by your school? If you do have then verify the theoretical hours for Psychiatric/Mental Health. If the entry was truly 18 hours, then the fault came from your school. However, if you do not have a copy of the academic verification form then it's hard to trace what went wrong and where the fault started.

The point is that, if the fault was done in simple encoding on CGFNS part, then you can asked them to correct it (like wrong names, wrong infos). But be sure to provide some proof. However, if the fault was outside CGFNS then you have to apply for re-evaluation (with certain fee) in order for you to be issued a new CES report.

Call CGFNS for the best solution to your problem.
